FEDERAL IMPACT AID FORM

Beginning on October 21, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.  All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 30. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

DOLPHIN ART

Dolphin Art

Dolphin Art kicks off this month as we explore the art of Russian abstract painter, Wassily Kandinsky. Led by LAES parent volunteers, students will explore three big ideas about Mr. Kandinsky.

  • Kandinsky was a Russian painter who is often called the father of abstract art.
  • Kandinsky loved to use color to show emotions.
  • Kandinsky had a special gift. His brain worked a little differently – he was able to see sound and hear color.

Keep an eye out for a drawing of music by your child artist, coming home this month. Want to be a part of Dolphin Art in your child’s classroom? Email graceartcoordinator@gmail.com

INSTRUCTIONAL COACHING

Kim

Hello, my name is Kimberly Seck and I am Lake Anne’s Instructional Coach.  I’ve been a part of the LAES family for three years. I love working with teachers as they plan instruction, work collaboratively as teams, and engage in action research that develops the best instruction for ALL our Dolphins.

Instructional Coaches are: Part teacher, part leader, part change agent, and part facilitator, instructional coaches work directly with teachers in their schools and classrooms to assist with the application of new knowledge and skills necessary to improve the academic performance of all students. -Joellen Killion and Cindy Harrison
