Little Halley Hornets

Be awesome, be amazing, be you.

Halley Hornet with Boo

Dear Halley Families,

We are pleased to share that all students in grades K-6 have received an Interim Report yesterday in their Thursday Folders. These reports include information such as the student’s strengths and needs, work habits, teacher comments, student goals, citizenship, and strategies to work on at home.  The goal of sending Interim Reports is to strengthen communication between the school and families and to identify academic and social emotional skills that students need to work on to be successful.  Interims also tells you how your child is performing in school at this half-way point of the quarter.  If there’s an area needing improvement, there’s still time to make changes before quarter one progress reports (“report cards”) come home in November.  Please sign the interim and send it back with Thursday Folders so that the teacher knows that you’ve seen it.

Lastly, if you still do not have a parent-teacher conference scheduled for this quarter, please contact your teacher ASAP.  Most conferences are held on the teacher workday on November 5th, but many teachers have other times available.  We want to meet with all parents around the end of the quarter so that we provide you with detailed information on your child’s progress. We value your partnership!

Your Principals,

Mrs. Peerman, Dr. Simpkins, and Ms. Johnson

Safety Reminder

Student safety is of the utmost importance to us at Halley.

We would like to take a moment to review safety procedures that we follow:

  1. When visitors ring the bell to enter the school (Entrance 1), office staff will ask the purpose of the visit prior to buzzing the person into the building.
  2. All visitors must check in using the Visitor Management System which requires a photo ID.
  3. When a visitor comes to the school to volunteer in a classroom or meet with a staff member, the office staff will call the staff member to confirm the meeting and let him/her know the visitor has arrived.
  4. All visitors must have a visitor’s sticker issued by the Visitor Management System or an FCPS issued badge.
