Digital Citizenship Week

FCPS is celebrating Digital Citizenship Week from October 21-25, 2019! This year’s theme is Media Balance and Well-Being: Developing a Healthy Relationship with Your Technology. Our school is celebrating Digital Citizenship Week with a spirit day and activities focused on developing healthy habits around technology use. Students will have a choice board to select at least one activity a day that matches the daily theme. Parents can also choose to sign up to receive text messages from Common Sense Media with Tips for Health Tech Balance (for children ages 3-8).

Hunt Valley PTA

If you haven't joined the PTA, please consider doing so by visiting https://www.huntvalleypta.org. The PTA helps empower, engage, and educate our students, staff, and families and does not ask families to sell cookie dough, wrapping paper or anything else during the year. They are currently in the middle of their direct donation drive - if the goal is reached, Mr. Fee will be duct taped to the wall! Donate today at https://huntvalleypta.memberhub.com

The next PTA meeting will be Nov. 6, 6:30, in the cafeteria, with a guest speaker from FCPS discussing the dangers of vaping in our youth.

HVES FALL Field Day Oct. 25th for Grades 1-6

  • 1st-3rd Grade Friday, October 25, 9:35 am - 12:00 pm   (approximate times)
  • 4th -6th Grade Friday, October 25, 12:40 pm - 3:00 pm  (approximate times)

(Notes:  Rain date 11/1; also Kindergarten Field Day is in June)

Mrs. Ross, Mr. Zatt, and Mr. Barbaro are looking for LOTS of parent volunteers for Field Day – especially for 4th-6th grade.

On field day Hunt Valley children engage in many fun activities to celebrate our Physical Education program.  A large number of volunteers (90 – 100) and adult supervision is needed for this day to be a success.

Volunteers will be used to help run stations or supervise a class as they travel from station-to-station.  You may choose to volunteer for one or both of the sessions. A detailed schedule will be made based on the number of volunteers that sign-up by Friday, October 11.  Please click here to volunteer!

Information for volunteers will be distributed via email approximately one week before field day.  An information table will also be set up in the foyer on field day to provide volunteer job assignments, the location of the stations, etc.

Please come and enjoy field day with your Hunt Valley child!  We need YOU!

Living with ADHD Support Group

Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Berry are offering support to families through on-going monthly meetings to address the challenges of life with ADHD. The first meeting for the 2019 – 2020 school year is currently scheduled for Monday, October 21st  at 7:00pm.  The meeting will take place in the school library from 7:00pm – 8:30pm. If you have any questions, please contact either Mrs. Mason (703)-913-8827/ tamason@fcps.edu) or Mrs. Berry (703-913-8885 / mfberry@fcps.edu.

Pumpkin Parade is coming!

Decorate! Get a real pumpkin and turn it into a book character (classic or trendy).  Please don’t cut or pierce the pumpkin as it will be on display and we want it to last.

Describe! Get an index (3x5) card.  Fold it in half into a tent, hamburger style.  On the outside of the tent, write three clues to describe your pumpkin character.  On the inside – so we can’t see it – write your pumpkin character’s name and your child’s name.

Display! Deliver your pumpkin to the library the week of Oct 21-25.  Pumpkins will be displayed until October 31st.  Pick up pumpkins Nov 1-5.  All remaining pumpkins will be returned to the patch on Nov. 6th.

If you need an index card, please stop by the library.
