Impact Aid Forms
Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact AID
Beginning on October 21, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Virginia Run ES will send home Impact Aid forms in the October 23 Wednesday folders. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an anticipated $3 million dollars in grant funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers. For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 30. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

Picture Day
Picture Day will be on Thursday, October 24th. Order forms went home in last week’s Wednesday folder. Pictures can also be ordered online at www.mylifetouch.com by using Virginia Run’s picture day ID: HJ249095Q0.
Harvest Festival
VRES PTA invites you to the Harvest Festival on Friday, October 25, 2019. The schedule of events is as follows:

Something Sweet is in the air! Nothing Bundt Cakes has partnered with the Virginia Run PTA to offer their delicious Bundtlet cakes for our families to enjoy during the Harvest Festival. Pre-order your favorite flavors now to guarantee joy and happiness for your taste buds. For those who forget to pre-order, limited quantities of each flavor will be available for sale the night of the Harvest Festival while supplies last. Price per Bundtlet: $5.00. Simply send in the order form below with payment by October 22nd.

Mix It Up Day
Mix It Up Day is coming! To continue to promote our school theme, “We Are One VRES,” students will have the opportunity to utilize the Positivity Project character trait of open mindedness to connect with someone new during lunch on October 30th!
Fall Book Fair
The Fall Book Fair is coming to the Virginia Run Library the last week of October! The book fair will be open for students to browse and shop during the school day Monday, October 28th through Friday, November 1st. Book fair closes at noon on Friday, Nov. 1st for pack up. We’ll kick off the book fair with our FAMILY NIGHT on Friday, October 25th from 5-7 PM. Energy Zone School BBQ
Please join us for a rotational BBQ on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Virginia Run Elementary School. Lunch will be served outside in the bus lane. Parents are welcome to attend during your child's lunch time.

Veterans Day Collage
Every year at Virginia Run, the 4th graders put on a Veterans Day assembly to honor our Veterans from every branch of the military. As a way of honoring our Veterans from the Virginia Run community Ms. Berg, Ms. Adkins and Ms. Tuben will be putting together a collage of pictures of Veterans, past and present, to display the week of Veterans Day (November 11). This collage will be on display in the main lobby. Feel free to email Ms. Berg (jmberg@fcps.edu) a picture of a Veteran from your family. If you have several Veterans in your family, we welcome multiple pictures. This is for ALL Veterans past and present. If you have a relative who did not return home from their service, please know that we plan to honor these servicemen and women in May for Memorial Day. Please submit all photos to me by Friday, November 1st. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Berg. Thank you!

Westfield Cares
Westfield High School is hosting a screening of the film, Angst. The intent is for this movie to raise awareness around anxiety and start a dialogue amongst families and community members. We will have community agencies available before and after the movie screening to offer information and resources to attendees. After the film, we will have a panel discussion from about 7:30-8:00pm. Dear Region 5 Communities,
Thank you for coming together to support the Bahamas after Dorian’s deadly destruction over a month ago. We were able to raise $8,650 to help support the area. All donations from the GoFundMe page are now being delivered to the UNICEF organization.
