Fairhill students sing the National Anthem at a Falls Church football game.

Administrator Avenue

Dear Fairhill Families,

Can you believe we are more than half way through the 1st quarter? Our tigers have been hard at work and are doing amazing things!

Interims were sent home two weeks ago. An interim is a communication tool we use half-way through the quarter to share academic and behavior progress for some of our tigers. We are working hard to meet every tiger where they are and continue to be proud of their hard work and dedication as scholars.

The weather has changed, and our classes continue to enjoy outside recess. Please continue to make sure your child comes to school ready for outdoor recess every day! Label your child’s sweatshirts, sweater and jackets. We follow the FCPS outdoor recess policy and will be outside everyday unless the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued Wind Chill Advisories and/or Wind Chill Warnings.

We can’t wait to see you at three more events this month. Our PTA has the best Fall Festival around and we hope you can join us on October 18th at 5:30 pm. Don’t forget to join us for breakfast on October 25th at 8:30 am for our first meeting of the year for All Pro Tigers. We hope you and your child can walk with us in the Falls Church Homecoming parade, October 25th. Bring some candy, wear orange and have your walking shoes on for this fun event!

As always, we are a team! Have a question or a concern? Email us or call using the contact info below!

Warmly,

Mrs. Hunstad, Mr. Stanley and Mrs. Korb

Fairhill is a 2019 Purple Star designee

We are pleased to inform you that the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on the Educational Opportunity of Military Children has selected Fairhill Elementary School as a 2019 Purple Star designee. The Council applauds and appreciates our school’s outstanding commitment to serving the needs of military students and families across Virginia.

Superintendent’s Excellence in Equity Award

Dr. Brabrand and the School Board have created a new and very important recognition to celebrate our school’s progress as we continue to raise the bar and close student achievement gaps.  After a careful analysis of the Division SOL data, Fairhill has accomplished one or several of the following milestones:

  • Top 10 average increase across ALL reporting groups in English;
  • Top 10 average increase across ALL reporting groups in math;
  • Top 10 schools with the largest reduction in achievement gap in English;
  • Top 10 schools with the largest reduction in achievement gap in math.

Fairhill, along with the others selected, will be honored at the School Board meeting on October 24, 2019 at 7:00 PM to recognize this achievement. Job well done tigers!

Fairhill PTA Fall Festival

We are a few days away from Fall Festival festivities. The fun begins on Friday, October 18th promptly at 5:30 p.m. This event promises to be filled with thrills, chills and excitement for all.  We are in need of volunteers to help with the Fall Festival.  There are many opportunities to help with a small time commitment. Our greatest need is with the entry/payment lines. We want the entry lines to move as quickly and safely as possible, so you and the family can spend most of your time having fun.

See flyer for more information.

Please see the Sign-up Genius links below to volunteer and donate.  Thank you in advance for your help!
