2019 Purple Star

Purple Star

The Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on the Educational Opportunity of Military Children has selected Fort Hunt Elementary School as a 2019 Purple Star designee.

The Council applauds and appreciates Fort Hunt’s outstanding commitment to serving the needs of military students and families.

Our dedicated program serves as an inspiring model for other schools across Virginia.

To qualify for a Purple Star, schools must have a trained staff member as a primary point of contact for military families and students who also serves as a liaison between the school and local military communities. Schools must also demonstrate their commitment to meeting the needs of military students by providing resources and programming on issues important to military families, such as transitions and academic planning.

Join us to thank you Mrs. Vavredge for taking on the role of Fort Hunt's Military Liaison and for all her hard work.

We will also like to acknowledge the wonderful Fort Hunt PTA for all the events throughout the year to support our wonderful Military Families.

Yearbook Cover

Our yearbook theme this year will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Fort Hunt Elementary School. That’s half a century our school has been open to students! Students, use your creativity to design a yearbook cover drawing that honors this important milestone. The winner will be selected by Fort Hunt teachers and staff. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place winners will have their design on the back cover. Your drawings MUST:

1. Be on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper
2. Relate to our school’s 50th anniversary
3. Fort Hunt Elementary and 2019-2020 must be in your drawing
4. Include our mascot, Artie the Fox!
5. Be drawn by you, and NO TRACING!
6. Have your first and last name & grade on the back

Color pencils work best, but please, COLOR DARK! If your drawing is too light it will not transfer well!

We are excited to see what creative ideas you come up with! Please turn in your drawings to Mr. Green by Friday, November 1st.
