Thanks for a Great First Week!

I have truly enjoyed getting to know our wonderful students, fantastic teachers and supportive parents and community members. It was a pleasant surprise to walk into my office on Monday morning to find many hand-written cards from students welcoming me to Forestville. I have enjoyed seeing the students in their classes, in specials, at lunch, at recess and at Kiss and Ride. The #1 question that I have been getting from them is, “Are you related to George Washington?” With #2 being, “How tall are you?” I have a few names down now, but I am looking forward to learning all of the student’s names and getting to know more about them. Thanks again for a great first week!

Health Info and Reminders

As you all are aware from the letter that was sent home recently in Tuesday folders, we have had some confirmed cases of strep over the past few weeks. We have been in communication with a representative from the Division of Epidemiology and Population Health, the Fairfax County Health Department as well as our Region 1 School Health Specialist.  As a school, we are continuing to monitor student absences and document any new cases on a daily basis with our Public Health Nurse.

These are the recommendations that are being followed:

*Daily cleaning of high touch surfaces- doorknobs, handles, faucets, drinking fountains, tables etc.

*Monitor clinic traffic and new cases

*Handwashing and cough etiquette education through morning announcements and teacher reminders

PTA Meeting

As a reminder, there will be a PTA meeting on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:00pm in the school cafeteria. After the general meeting portion, I will be available for a meet and greet. Please stop by to say hi and to introduce yourself.
