PSAT DAY Reminder – Wednesday, October 16, 2019:

Wednesday October 16, 2019 we will have a two-hour early dismissal as we are administering the PSAT to all 10th and 11th graders9th graders. All these students  will report to their advisory and participate in a morning of freshman transition activities.  Since regular classes will not be scheduled due to testing, 12th graders are not expected to report to school and will be considered EXC for the day.  We encourage them to be academically engaged in ways such as working on college applications, visiting a college, working on job applications or post-secondary plans, service-learning activities or working on their FAFSA application.

Judge consultants select approximately 20 best projects for regional competition later in the year. Please email the Science Fair Coordinator Ed Chapman to sign up.

Date: 1/11/2020, Time: 8am-12pm, Location: WPHS cafeteria

New Library Updates

It may be fall, but the library is still sizzling from all of our updates. We have a new catalog system, allowing West Potomac students and staff online access from anywhere at any time. Think of a book when you’re home after school and want to know if we have it? Just grab your phone and click on the “Library” tab at the top of the West Potomac home page to search. How cool is that? Students can renew books and place holds from any personal device if the books are currently checked out. For more information please contact a member of the library staff.

PTSA Updates Our next PTSA meeting is on Monday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 - 8:00 pm. The special topic is the update to the FCPS Student Discipline Policy Update and how this affects your student. The PTSA is looking for volunteers for the following:

Senior Parent Meeting All Night Grad (ANG) Chair/Co-Chair-This person(s) would initiate planning for "All Night Grad” for Class of 2020 that should start as soon as possible to guarantee venders for the celebration graduation night. The ANG celebration brings the school's graduating seniors together. ANG is a fun and safe alternative for our kids on graduation night. More information will be available at the Senior Parents Meeting on October 23 at 7:00 pm. Please plan to attend to help plan this great event for our seniors.

Baccalaureate Chair — We are looking for a Junior or Senior parent to plan and manage the Baccalaureate Ceremony (a non-denominational service before graduation) honoring the graduating Class of 2020.

We welcome back the PTSA members who have already signed up to help this year and encourage all West Potomac families to join the PTSA.
