Student Safety in the Morning and at Dismissal

Please help us with morning and afternoon traffic and student safety.  We have noticed speeding cars on Reservation Drive, cars making U-Turns in the middle of the street, adults on cell phones in the Kiss and Ride lane, and some drivers who are ignoring the adults outside trying to keep students safe.  Families who live in the neighborhood have voiced concerns as well.   Please obey all traffic safety laws.

All students at Sangster are considered a bus rider or a walker.

If students walk to or from school, please remind students to cross Reservation Drive at the crosswalk with the crossing guard, not in the middle of the street.

If you choose to drive your child to school or pick them up using Kiss and Ride, please help us with our traffic flow.

Below are also some tips to help make Kiss and Ride a smoother and more efficient process:

  • If you are turning onto Reservation Drive from school property, please make a right turn.  When parents make a left on Reservation Drive, it backs up traffic in the Kiss and Ride lane.
  • Please do not park on Reservation Drive between the No Parking signs or block driveways.
  • Our student safety patrols open car doors to assist students getting out of vehicles at Kiss and Ride.  The Kiss and Ride lane is only one lane, so please be patient and do not pass other cars.  This is for everyone’s safety.
  • Parents should not get out of their cars in the Kiss and Ride lane.
  • Students should exit the right side of the car, closest to the sidewalk.
  • If you are driving your student to school, please do not drop your child off on Reservation Drive and have them run across the street.  Please use the Kiss and Ride lane, or walk your child to the school using the cross walk.  This is for everyone’s safety.

Thank you for your assistance and patience when driving.

Positivity Project - Week of September 30

This week’s character strength is Open-Mindedness. You show this strength when you like to consider new ideas and try new things. You examine things from all sides and don’t jump to conclusions. Open-minded individuals are often good listeners and called upon to provide a balanced viewpoint. Both listening and the ability to deliver reasonable and practical advice are marks of good friends and confidantes. This strength helps individuals form meaningful and lasting relationships.

This Coming Week’s Character Strength:     Open-Mindedness

Next Week’s Character Strength:    The Other People Matter Mindset – being present and giving others my attention

Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings are usually held the second Thursday of every month.  Our next meeting is Thursday, October 10th at 7pm.   We hope that you can join us!

PTA Membership  & Directory -

Remember to join the PTA and order your school directory. This year’s directory will have email addresses for your student’s classmates so that you can plan playdates, ask homework questions, and send out birthday invitations. Don’t miss out!

The directory is our only major fall fundraiser. These funds are used throughout the year for recess supplies, classroom materials, teacher training, technology expenses and more.
