Lice Resources
September is Lice Prevention Month, a great time to provide information to parents and guardians regarding head lice and its treatment. Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) have two great resources for parents and guardians who are interested in learning more about lice.

Vision and Hearing Screenings
Vision and hearing screenings will be held Monday, September 23 through Friday, October 4 for all kindergarten and third grade students as well as students who are new to Fairfax County. If your child wears glasses, please be sure he/she has them at school on screening days. The purpose of screening is to identify students who need further evaluation because they have difficulty seeing the screening chart or hearing the screening tones. Parents will be notified by letter if screening results indicate that further testing is needed. Vision and hearing difficulties can interfere with learning. Prompt follow-up of a referral is recommended.
