Panel Discussion on Human Trafficking in our Neighborhoods

Day Of Service

On Saturday September 21st from 8:30-11, we will have a schoolwide clean up.  Parents and students will be here to mulch, weed and spruce up our grounds as a day of service for the month.  Please consider joining this community eventSign up to help or donate here!

Seeking Advisory Council Volunteers

Interested in providing feedback to HMS’s school counseling program? Please join the counselors for their Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday, September 18th from 2:30-3:15pm in the library. Advisory Council is a chance for counselors to highlight and seek feedback on their current and future programs. If you’re planning on attending, please respond via this form.
Light snacks and refreshments will be available.

Finance Park Field Trip

All 8th graders will attend the Finance Park field trip October 2-7 to learn about personal finance and budgeting. Students will attend the field trip with their Civics teacher.

Mrs. Montgomery and Ms. Ojjeh's classes will attend October 2nd
Ms. Hong and Mrs. Castagno's classes will attend October 3rd
Mr. Nagy's 4th and 6th period and Mrs. Durand's classes will attend October 4th
Mr. Nagy's 1st period and Mrs. Robinson's classes will attend October 7th

Please sign and return the field trip permission slip and health form. Students will need to bring a lunch or request a lunch from the cafeteria from their Civics teacher. If you are interested in volunteering for this field trip, please see the attached flyer or contact Zeh Montgomery at zvmontgomery@fcps.edu. We look forward to a great day at Finance Park!


HMS Fest

The 2019 HMS Fest will be held after school on Thursday October 17th from 2:30-4pm.  All students are invited to attend this free event that includes a DJ, games, and socializing.  We will sell snacks and spirit wear.  Late buses will be available to bring students home after the event.  This annual tradition is a great opportunity for our students to come together and display school spirit. Class of 2025 (7th Graders) traditionally dress in red and Class of 2024 (8th Graders) dress in black. Stay tuned for more details!  We need your help to make HMS Fest a success!  We are looking for chaperones and volunteers to donate snacks for the event. Please click here to sign up.

  • Students who are proficient to fluent in another language can register for the World Language Credit Exam now through October 10th. Register with your counselor. More information is on the Herndon MS website!
