Welcome, Mr. David Ickowski!
We are excited to announce that Mr. David Ickowski will be joining the Terraset team as our new Assistant Principal! Most recently, Mr. Ickowski has been serving the Dranesville Elementary (Herndon) community as their Advanced Academics Resource Teacher. Before that, Mr. Ickowski was a classroom teacher at Churchill Road Elementary (McLean).
Prior to beginning his educational career with Fairfax County Public Schools, Mr. Ickowski received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia in Childhood Education. He obtained a Master’s degree in Instructional Media through Wilkes University and then earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at George Mason University.
Mr. Ickowski wrote and received a grant last school year that provided funding to support several very successful family engagement events at Dranesville. He worked closely with the administrative team to support many school wide initiatives including providing professional development opportunities to staff on various topics. Mr. Ickowski is especially proud of his work differentiating and enriching K-2 students in math - yielding impressive results over the past few years.
As a native of Western New York, Mr. Ickowski is “die-hard Buffalo Bills fan.” He and his wife, Lauren grew up about 20 miles apart outside of Buffalo, but actually met in Virginia! They share their home with Charlie and Lucy, their two rescue dogs. In his free time, Dave enjoys going to the gym, playing board games with friends and family, and decorating for the holidays.
He shares, “It is an honor to have been selected to serve this community and I will work diligently to earn your trust and respect. I am looking forward to partnering with families and staff and ensuring that Terraset continues to be an amazing place for all. I truly cannot wait to begin building relationships with you and your children! It is my belief that we can best meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students by working collaboratively as a community. Please feel free to stop by, call, or email if you have questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share with me. Warmly, Dave.”
Mr. Ickowski will start at Terraset on Monday, September 23rd.
