Back to School Night in Review

We were inspired by the overwhelming attendance of our community at last night's traditional back to school event. We hope the evening provided you with a better understanding of your student's academic endeavors this year. We look forward to providing your student with an engaging and enriching journey.

For those who were not able to join us, the welcome message from Mrs. Van Aalst and Mr. Paper is availalble here.

The Freedom Flag

To commemorate 9/11/2001, the Freedom Flag is displayed with the American flag per Section 1-510 of the Code of Virginia.

Designed by a Virginian, the Freedom Flag features ten elements in a red, white, and blue design commemorating all who lived and died on that tragic day.

Join the PTA - and enter to win!

PTA Membership Registration for the 2019-2020 school year is now open!  We are using a new service, Member Toolkit, to manage our directory, store, and communication functions.

Why join?  Be a part of the conversation, the decision-making, the community, and the FUN!  Early bird promotion:  join before Friday, September 20 and your name will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 Amazon gift card!  One entry per family or faculty membership, winner will be drawn at random and announced by 9/25.  To join, visit www.fairviewpta.org!

PTA is on Facebook

Search for the private group called Fairview Elementary PTA (make sure it's the one in Fairfax Station, VA) and connect with other families.  You'll be asked to supply your connection to the school and then our moderators will approve you.  We always post event information and updates and you can share and learn from the community.

Spiritwear sale opens Monday!

Show your Falcon pride and pick up some sweet Fairview merch in the fall spirit wear sale.  Stay tuned for the store link, dates, and details.

Family Movie Night Canceled

After much indecision, we have decided to cancel family movie night scheduled for September 27.  Sorry, everyone!  It falls on the same evening as Robinson homecoming, so we thought we'd give families with kids in both schools a break.  Stay tuned for more information on upcoming family fun events!

New partnership with Code Ninjas!

We are excited to announce our new community partner!  Code Ninjas gives kids the opportunity to become computer literate and learn coding in a fun, safe environment.  Students learn to problem solve, work in teams, sharpen their math skills -- all in an engaging way!  Code Ninjas will be hosting Kids Night Out events exclusive to Fairview, offering terrific discounts on camps and learning programs, supplying us with gift certificates and prizes, and offering donations for every Fairview kid who enrolls in a drop-in program or camp during the school year.  Check out the attached flyer and visit https://www.codeninjas.com/locations/va-burke for more information!

Fairview Running Registration Now Open!

Boys On The Trail (BOTT) and Girls Run For Fun (GRFF) together make up the Fairview Running Club, which is a fun running program open to all 3rd thru 6th grade boys and girls at Fairview Elementary. Students of all levels are welcome to join the program, which is set in a friendly, non-competitive environment structured to encourage health, fun and team sportsmanship. Click on the links for details/dates and to register for BOTT or GRFF. If you have questions, please contact Coach Herbig at eherbig@gmail.com. Both programs fill up very fast, so register today!

Fairview Running Shirts Being Offered for Sale! Kids, parents and teachers have asked for a Fairview Running shirt to wear in support of the program and for school spirit days. Through September 20, we are offering the opportunity to buy two different shirts; a long-sleeve pink and a short-sleeve black shirt. More details and payment instructions are in the order form. Order as many as you like, but only one per form, at this link: Support Fairview Running! (If your child is on the team this fall, he/she will receive a different color shirt with the program. This is an opportunity to buy additional shirts.) If you have questions, please contact Erin at eherbig@gmail.com.
