Hello Centre Ridge Family-

We have had a busy two weeks at The Ridge. Classrooms are now settled into their routines and have built their classroom community for the year. Students have been beginning their Reading, Writing and Math workshops in class. Teachers have been working with students to help them choose the right books for them and to begin their conferences with students. School wide we have begun the Positivity Project. This was an initiative that we started last year that builds on character education and recognizing traits in others. We use the hashtag #otherpeoplematter for our Positivity project lessons.

The PTA had their first meeting on Tuesday where we heard from Valerie Carter on the Advanced Academic program here at The Ridge. Lots of great information and thank you to Mrs. Carter for presenting. As always please join the PTA to help support many of the programs here at our school.

We have lots of events coming up and hope to see you there. Don't forget to order from Ciro's next week and support the Centre Ridge PTA.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend

Resource Fair

September 21 @ the Centreville Regional Library (9-12:00)

Please come out and join staff from Centreville HS, Liberty MS and Centre Ridge for free school supplies, kids activities and meet representatives from different community services and Fairfax County schools.

Assembly/Pep Rally

On Tuesday, September 17 we will have an assembly for Constitution Day. We will be celebrating famous leaders as well as showing the new School Constitution for our students. We will also use this time to get the students excited about the Read-a-thon and the Positivity Project this year. The students in Grades 3-6 will hear speeches from Sixth grade students running for the SCA.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals

The Free and Reduced Meals application is now online.  Families must re-apply every year to receive this service.  Click this link for more information and to apply online.  Please also complete the consent to share information (section 4 of the application) as this can allow the school to waive course fees and families to receive reduced fees for other activities.  If families do not re-apply, the current free/reduced lunch status will be inactivated beginning October 8th.
