We Are Robinson!'20

Message from Principal Phillips

Wow….I cannot believe we have finished our first three weeks of school. Things are getting settled and I think we are off to a great start. I want to thank you for your patience as we get into a routine. I hope many of you were able to join us on one of our back to school nights. I know counselors have been working hard to resolve schedule issues and teachers have been getting to know students. As I visit classrooms, students are engaged and actively participating in lessons.

The grade level administrators spent two days this week meeting with all students to review expectations and answer student questions. As I stated earlier, I believe it is about team work and we want to partner with you to ensure our students are set up for success. I would encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher, counselor, or grade level administrator if you have any questions or concerns.

I also want to say thank you for supporting our endeavors to improve safety and security at Robinson. We have implemented new procedures for visitors to the building during the school day.

Check-In Procedures:

  • If you are coming to Robinson for a meeting, you should park in a visitor parking spot.
  • Entrance into the building is only permitted through Entrance 1.
  • You must check in at the main office and sign in with a government issued ID.
  • You will be instructed to wait in the main office for a staff member to meet you and walk with you to your scheduled meeting. Meeting with teachers during the school day without a prearranged scheduled meeting is not permitted.

Middle School Check-Out Procedures:

  • If your middle school student needs to be picked up early from school due to an appointment or prearranged absence, you will need to first notify the student’s sub-school administrative assistant so their attendance is reflected correctly.
  • Enter the building through Entrance 1 and notify the administrative assistant in the main office that you are there to pick up a middle school student.
  • Your student will be contacted by their sub-school administrative assistant, and directed to meet you at the main office.

The Library Corner

One Book, One School – Refugee by Alan Gratz

On Wednesday, September 18, our students will discuss the summer reading selection during Learning Seminar with their first period teachers.  Families are invited to explore the resources on the Robinson One Book/One School website.  Here you’ll find book passages, discussion questions, a refugee-themed poem, infographics, links, maps, author information and videos.  We hope everyone in our school community enjoyed the book and found the discussions with students meaningful.  We hope that the conversations continue at home and at school throughout the year.  If you have any questions, please contact one of the Robinson Librarians.
