World Language Credit Exam

Students in grades 7-12 if FCPS who can read and write in another language can take the WLCE and earn between 1 and 3 HS WL credits!  The test is given in 30 languages.  This explains the FCPS program. Here is some more information about Herndon MS’s testing date.We are lucky to be able to offer this exam at Herndon MS for our students.  We usually have 50-100 students who test -last year we had 36 students pass in 5 different languages!  If your child can read and write another language, this is a great opportunity.

All students must register online with their counselor before October 10th.  Counselors will also have more information about preparing for the test.  Students will need pencils, and their registration tickets to take the test.  Students who finish in time may take late buses home or are dismissed to walk or call for a ride later.  The exam will be given at Herndon MS on November 14th.

September is National Preparedness Month

September is National Campus Safety and Preparedness Month and one of the many reasons there seem to be so many drills in school.  We always want adults and students to feel prepared for class, for weather and for any unforeseen circumstances.    The theme this year on the ready.gov site is “Prepared, Not Scared.”  We take time this month to thank the people that help ensure we are safe and prepared.  Thank you to Officer Murn and Officer Belling! We are lucky to have such committed supports in our building here at HMS!

Everyday Counts!
