Ms. Na greeting her students during Morning Meeting.

A message from Mr. Chiet (Principal) and Mrs. O'Donovan (Assistant Principal)

Dear Timber Lane Families,

We are incredibly excited to welcome you all to the 2019-2020 school year!  The first two weeks of school have been full of excitement and tons of energy from both our students and staff!  Our staff has been working extremely hard beginning to build our classroom communities where every student has a voice and is a valued member of each special classroom environment.

We are all in the process of working closely with our students to see where they are beginning the school year with each of their academic skills.  We are enjoying getting to know students and beginning to form those very special teacher-to-student relationships.  We are beginning to form our plans for the differentiated instruction that will meet every student's needs, in addition to learning how we can best support the social and emotional needs of every child.

We welcomed dozens of new students to Timber Lane this year from all over the world!  Ms. Albrite (School Counselor) and Ms. Cook (Social Worker) put on an awesome Timber Lane Bingo for all of our new students as a fun way to review some of the new faces and features of our wonderful school.  We were able to participate and speak with new students coming from places as far away as the Philippines and Honduras, and some as close as Alexandria!  We would like to thank Mrs. Baptiste for interpreting for this event so every student was able to participate!

This year we would like to encourage even more family members to come out and visit Timber Lane for many opportunities that we will be providing.  We would like every family to set a goal to attend at least one school event and volunteer one time.  We are always looking for family members to volunteer for PTA events, become a mystery reader within the classroom, helping out in Physical Education class with some exciting sports and fitness activities, and as classroom volunteers.

We welcome every Timber Lane family member.  You do not need to speak English to be able to volunteer.  We can use your help to reach many of our students who speak a different language and we value your ability to help us connect to all of our learners!  We welcome you to connect with your child's teacher or the main office to learn about the many ways you can be a part of our school community!  Our incredible main office staff is able to communicate with all of the following languages: English, Spanish, Russian, Azerbaijani and French.

Lunch is served daily for our students and we welcome family members to come visit during students' lunch blocks as well!  Family members can purchase a lunch for $4.50, which includes a trip to our salad bar!  Now where can you get a complete and nutritious meal for $4.50!  Don't pass this deal up!

The following are times for each grade level's daily lunch time:

1st Grade: 11:00-11:30

2nd Grade: 11:15-11:45

Kindergarten: 11:45-12:15

3rd Grade: 12:00-12:30

6th Grade: 12:15-12:45

5th Grade: 12:30-1:00

4th Grade: 1:00-1:30

In upcoming weekly news announcements we will have special guest contributors.  We will share some of the wonderful things happening at Timber Lane from some of these very important people:
