Welcome to SY2019-20

8/23/19

Dear Seahawk Families:

FCPS Bus Transportation

Parents can view student bus schedules by signing into their 24-7 Learning Blackboard Parent View account https://fcps.blackboard.com/webapps/login/

  • Scroll down to see the Bus Stop Information module
  • Click on your student’s name to view bus stop information.

Bus stop information is also posted in the South Lakes Library Course

  • After logging in to 24-7 Parent View, select the your student’s name in the My Family module
  • Select South Lakes HS Library
  • The bus schedule is posted in the Announcements section of the course.

Academy Shuttles

Students who are attending courses at other schools who are receiving a shuttle between South Lakes and the other school site (typically Chantilly or Fairfax) should meet the bus at door #1/ main office side. Morning shuttles leave about 8:10 so don't be late!

Fairfax Connector Access

Students who were issued a bus pass last year either from South Lakes HS, Hughes MS or Carson MS should continue to use their bus pass.

Students who need to apply for a new bus pass should pick up a new agreement form in the main office that needs to be signed by both the student and a parent / guardian and turned in to the security office (main hallway, room 330).

Note:  We have not received new passes from the Fairfax Connector as of yet. Students can turn in their applications and when the cards come in we will activate them.

Walkers

All students should enter through the main hallway doors in the morning. This is  door #1 on the main office side and door #4 on the stadium side.

Kiss & Ride

Parents who drive their student to school need to use the Kiss & Ride loop on the stadium side of the building.  Traffic backs up so bring your patience!  Upon exiting the stadium lot you will only be able to turn right so plan your route accordingly. There should be no student drop-off on the front side for any reason. Your cooperation with this is greatly appreciated.

Student Parking

Student parking is on the stadium side of the building.  If you have not yet applied for a parking pass you need to do so. Applications are on the front page of the website (https://southlakeshs.fcps.edu/ ). Parking at Langston Hughes is for their staff only. We no longer have the shared blacktop for parking.

Parents:  Need to come in for something?

There are a handful of visitor spots along the island on Seahawk Drive (front side of the building). Additionally, the spots on the bus lane side of the island are open for visitors after 8:15AM and before 2:30PM during the school day.  All visitors must check in at the main office and have their drivers license for the visitor management system.

SLHS staff is in communication with Langston Hughes to monitor any impact their renovation may have on arrival and dismissal at either school.

The first block of the day begins at 8:10AM - plan accordingly so you can arrive on time each day!  We dismiss at 2:55PM. Students who ride the FCPS bus generally are home between 3:15-3:40PM - check your student's bus schedule for the specific time.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday!
