Principal's Message
Dear Whitman Community,
The 2019-20 school year is right around the corner. For students new to Whitman MS, a Student Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 22 from 7:30 – 10:00 AM. Transportation is provided. If you have not received bus information for the orientation, see the bus schedule below. This is a student only event for new 7th graders and new to Whitman 8th graders.
We invite all parents to Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 10 starting at 6:00 PM. Parents will be able to follow their students’ schedules, meet teachers, sign up for the PTSA ($10 dues), and more. Please join us for this great event!
*NEW* Cell Phone Policy: Per FCPS Guidelines for Middle School
Phones must be silenced and kept put away for the duration of the school day. Storage may be in a PE locker, backpack, pencil bag, etc. during the day. Teachers may allow cell phone usage in their classrooms at their discretion with the support of the administration. Cell phones may be used on campus before the first bell and after the last bell. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in phones being confiscated for the day and/or other consequences assigned by an administrator.
Many of the returning 8th grade parents and students have been asking how they can access their class schedules. Fortunately, the FCPS Student Information System (SIS) supports all aspects of a student’s educational experience and includes demographic data and information related to scheduling, attendance, discipline, health, grades, test results, and academic programs. SIS is a secure, web-based system accessible by staff, students, and parents.
All Walt Whitman Middle School students’ schedules will be available online Thursday, August 22 beginning at 6:00 am. Please use your username and password to access this information. Students can click on the link below:
