Justice Newsletter - August 20, 2019

"Upon the subject of education ... I can only say that I view it as the most important subject which we as a people may be engaged in." - Abraham Lincoln

A Note from Principal Eck

 Dear Justice Families,

We were so excited to see so many students returning to school last week. We had lots of students attend our 9th grade orientation,  and AVID 9  and IB/Honors prep programs. In addition, many of our rising seniors and recent graduates participated in panel discussions with our new to Justice students.

Early laptop distribution continues through August 23rd between 8am and 12pm. Please report to the main office and we will point you in the right direction. If you are not able to come in early, laptops will be distributed through Health and PE classes for 9th and 10th grade students on August 26th or 27th, and through English classes for 11th and 12 grade students on August 28th or 29th. For more information regarding FCPSOn, please click here. This year, there is a $50 technology fee which will be billed through MySchoolBucks. For more information, please visit: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/fcpson/fcpson-technology-support-fee

School starts on Monday, August 26th. The first class begins promptly at 8:10 am. Student schedules will be available in SIS StudentVue and SIS ParentVue on Thursday, August 22 at 6:00 am. Counselors will be available during the Wolfpack Welcome on Thursday, August 22nd to help students access their SIS StudentVue account. On the first day of school, students who do not access their schedule through SIS StudentVue will be directed by school staff to their first period class where all students will receive a hard copy of their schedule.

Looking forward to a great school year.

Bus Schedules will be sent directly by FCPS Transportation the week before school begins.  Bus assignments are also found on FCPS 24/7 under "Bus Stop Information." Here Comes The Bus mobile app will be available starting Monday, August 26th.

Kiss & Ride: The safety and security of our students and staff is a priority at Justice High School.  This includes the drop-off and pick up of students before and after the school day.  In the continuing effort to maintain and enhance our safe and secure environment, there is a safe and efficient designated Student Drop-off and Pick-up location for your use.  This location is in the rear of the school near the football stadium. It can be accessed by the rear driveway entrance from Peace Valley Lane, between Diamond Dr. and Cheryl Dr. This area is marked by signs indicating “Student Drop-off”. Students can be dropped off beginning at 7:50am. The picture below demonstrates the drop-off area.

Family Life Education

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) provides a comprehensive, sequential Family Life Education (FLE) program for students in grades kindergarten through grade twelve. Instruction is seen as a partnership among parents and guardians, the school, and the community in supporting the learning essential to the development of strong families, positive relationships, and a healthy community.

Parents/guardians may choose to opt their child out of all or part of the Family Life Education program. Students who are opted out are provided with age-appropriate, nonpunitive alternative health instruction, and every effort is made to foster respect for family choices. If you wish to opt your child out of all or part of FLE for this school year, opt out forms will be included in your child’s back-to-school/orientation packets and are available online for Elementary (K-6) https://www.fcps.edu/academics/elementary-school-academics-k-6/elementary-family-life-education , Middle School (7-8) https://www.fcps.edu/academics/middle-school-academics-7-8/family-life-education-fle, and High School (9-12) https://www.fcps.edu/academics/high-school-academics-9-12/family-life-education-fle. Please fill in the opt-out form and return it to your child’s school prior to Family Life Education instruction.

Detailed grade-level program descriptions are available online at Elementary (K-6) , Middle School (7-8) , and High School (9-12).
