Reminder: Thursday, August 22, New Student Orientation

Dear TJHSST New Students and Parents/Guardians:

On Thursday, August 22, 2019, we will welcome you to our TJ family.  We are so excited to start a journey together.

The day consists of a new student orientation, an SGA-sponsored event for students, and a welcoming reception for parents.  The orientation program is mandatory for parents and students. However, parents and students may choose whether or not to participate in the other events.  The details of each event are below.

Parking will be available on site and security staff will assist you.

We look forward to seeing you soon.  Welcome to the TJ family!

New Student Orientation

Student Services is excited to see you at New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 22.  Student schedules will be available in hard copy beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the Nobel Commons (inside Dome).  The official program will begin in the auditorium at 9:00 a.m.  Following opening introductions and welcome comments, students will have an opportunity to meet each of their teachers and find their classrooms. During that same time parents will remain in the auditorium for additional information and then meet with their students’ counselor in various classrooms noted in the program guide.  The Student Services portion of the program for both students and parents will conclude at noon. Parents, please coordinate with your son/daughter where you will meet following the conclusion of the orientation or SGA event.

SGA-Sponsored Big/LilSib Event

The TJ BigSibs Coordinators and BigSib Family exist to support new students’ transition to TJ. To help welcome you to TJ, BigSibs will be hosting a lunch and get-together immediately following your orientation on Thursday, August 22, 2019. Incoming students should meet in the Gym at noon. The event will begin with a brief introduction, after which Sibs groups will break off for a pizza lunch, and get to know each other. After lunch Sibs groups will tour TJ with the event concluding by 3:00 p.m.

New Parent Reception and Networking

Following the orientation, the TJ Partnership Fund will host a reception for new parents. Representatives from PTSA and booster organizations will also be available to greet parents.

The event will take place from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the TJ Cafeteria. This will be an opportunity for TJ parents to network with each other while learning about the unique and exciting opportunities available for students, along with the ways you can support the innovative and specialized needs of the TJ community. A light lunch will be provided. Please RSVP here.

It's going to be an exciting year for all of us, and we look forward to seeing you next Thursday.

Sincerely,

Ann N. Bonitatibus, Principal
