Back to School Updates

A Message from Mrs. Harper

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  We're busy placing all of the finishing touches on our building and getting ready for the buzz of excitement that comes along with the beginning of a new school year.

Below is an overview to of the events this week and next at Great Falls Elementary.

  • Friday, August 16 - Class Assignments Announced
This year, our teachers will email a welcome letter introducing themselves to our families as your child's teacher.  Emails will be sent by your child's new teacher between 2:00 and 4:00 pm on Friday.
Please note: Some students will receive more than one email over the two hour span due to the Japanese immersion program.  Please be patient as all class assignments will be announced by 4:00 pm on Friday.  Please refrain from responding to teachers, requesting more information, if both teachers aren't revealed at the same time.
  • Wednesday, August 21 - PTA New Student Playdate
9:30 - 10:30 am at the GFES Playground.
    All new students are invited!
  • Thursday, August 22 - Open House
    9:30 - 10:30 am
Students may visit their classrooms and meet their teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.  We recommend our families bring school supplies to school at this time.  Parents are also encouraged to add money onto student lunch accounts in the cafeteria and/or visit the school health room for medication authorization forms.

Back to School Night

We would like to formally invite you to our Back-To-School Night(s) at Great Falls Elementary.

Back-To-School Night is an opportunity for you to learn about our students' instruction from his or her teacher.

New this year:  Our specialists will be attending specific nights as well. This allows you time to hear about the wonderful work your children are doing in their special classes, the curriculum being taught in these classes, and gives you an opportunity to ask programmatic questions to better understand specialists' roles within our building.

Be sure to check out the chart below for specifics!
