CVHS Students and Parents
We hope everyone has been enjoying the summer and is excited for the new school year. The first day of school, August 26, is quickly approaching. Below are a few important updates for your information. We will continue to update the school website and send News You Choose messages as we approach the start of the school year. Enjoy the remaining days of summer break!
- Wildcat Welcome - Wednesday, August 21 beginning at 5:00 and ending at 7:30. Come out and pick up your schedule, visit with clubs and activities, and much more.
- Freshman and New Student Orientation - Thursday, August 22 from 8:30-10:30 (buses pick up at pyramid elementary schools at 8:00 and return by 11:00).
- Back to School Night - Thursday, September 5, beginning at 7:00pm. The senior parent meeting will take place the same evening beginning at 6:00pm in the auditorium.
There have been slight adjustments made to the bell schedule to allow for an additional minute of passing time between classes along with other subtle changes. The new bell schedule has been posted on the school website at the link below along with the A/B school year calendar.

Student schedules will contain an 8th period "homeroom" class this year. This homeroom will be referred to as Advisory period and occurs on Tuesdays and Fridays during PLUS time from 9:50 - 10:20. RULER (emotional intelligence) and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support) lessons will occur on Tuesdays and Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) will take place on Fridays during this time. More information can be found on the school website at the link below.

Hallway lockers will be provided to all freshman students; however, lockers will only be provided to sophomores, juniors, and seniors by student request. This is primarily due to increased enrollment and because many students choose not to use their locker. More information will be shared about lockers at the start of the school year. Students can carry backpacks throughout the day.
As has been shared previously, changes in enrollment accompanied by the addition of an assistant principal and counselor positions have forced us to make some adjustments to the subschool assignments alphabetical caseloads. Please see below for the new subschool assignments. We recognize that this will cause a shift with some of our students in regards to who they will have as an Assistant Principal and School Counselor as compared to last year. In the long term, the additional staff will allow us to balance and lower the caseloads for the sub schools so they can better serve the needs of our students. It is important that we maintain the balance created by the reorganization. Respectfully, we will not be switching students back to their previous Assistant Principal or School Counselor. The sub schools will be working together to help ease the transition for those students who will be affected.
