Fairfax County Public Library’s Summer Reading Adventure Continues

Many studies have found that reading for pleasure is beneficial for kids in many ways including keeping up their reading skills over the summer and helping them succeed in school.

Fairfax County Public Library helps make reading fun by providing tools, access, and incentives during its Summer Reading Adventure. Held in cooperation with Fairfax County Public Schools, the Summer Reading Adventure runs now through August 31 and invites all children and teens—birth through high school—to read for fun over the summer. This year’s theme is “It’s Showtime at Your Library!”

To participate, register online or visit a branch.

Summer FEEDS Program Continues Until August 23

Hunger doesn’t take a vacation and neither do we! The Office of Food and Nutrition Services will be hosting “FEEDS” (Food for Every Child to Eat During Summer) cookout program at various locations across Fairfax County this summer. This USDA-funded program is free to all children 18 years and under and provides low-cost meals for adults.

There is no registration involved, and everyone is welcome. Meal service will be provided until August 23, Monday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. See the summer FEEDS locations.
