Back to School Kick Off

Our Kick Off is August 22 from 3 to 5pm.

This is a great opportunity to walk the school as a family and map out schedules, visit multiple resources including the clinic, cafeteria and transportation, find out about HMS programs and community programs and get some dinner from food trucks! The backpack program is also this afternoon. Students can pick up their schedules and information at any time during the open house from 3-5.

7^th graders should enter in door 6 and go to the cafeteria. 8^th graders should enter through the front and go to the gym. This is an exciting time but it is not required. Families can access their schedules through ParentVUE or StudentVUE on the morning of August 22 and the draft of their schedule online can be used to walk the building- no need to stand in line! But come for the community and spirit.

Do you have a ParentVUE account? This lets you see your child’s grades, attendance and schedule. If you have an account and forgot your password, visit this link and say forgot password. If you have never activated your account, please contact the main office to request your key/access or email Karyn Niles at keniles@fcps.edu.

Special HawkTime and Groups

Is your child interested in being in a specialized HawkTime? Students can elect to participate in a Community Service HawkTime, Garden Club, School Newspaper or Yearbook. There are still spots available. Please have your student complete this request by August 5^th ranking interest in any of these.

Dining for Dollars

The first Dining for Dollars of the school year will be held at Ben and Jerry's in the Reston Town Center from 5-9pm on Thursday August 29th! Enjoy delicious ice cream, see your HMS friends and support the PTA! We will receive 20% of all sales between 5 and 9pm.

Community Partners

The PTA is looking for community partners to help enhance our programs and offerings. Are you a local business that would like to gain the good-will and recognition of your neighbors while publicizing your business? Email Brett Fox at president@hmspta.com for partnership opportunities.

PTA: Parent Volunteers Needed

The BRAND NEW HMS PTA has been hard at work this summer, getting ready to kick off our awesome programs and events. The HMS PTA is a non-profit organization that relies on many volunteers to operate our programs and give back to the school.

H3 Pick Up will be open on August 15th 6:30-8:30 am. Please Bring a bag and enter through door 6.
