Our Kick Off is August 22 from 3 to 5pm.
This is a great opportunity to walk the school as a family and map out schedules, visit multiple resources including the clinic, cafeteria and transportation, find out about HMS programs and community programs and get some dinner from food trucks! The backpack program is also this afternoon. Students can pick up their schedules and information at any time during the open house from 3-5.
7th graders should enter in door 6 and go to the cafeteria. 8th graders should enter through the front and go to the gym. This is an exciting time but it is not required. Families can access their schedules through ParentVUE or StudentVUE on the morning of August 22 and the draft of their schedule online can be used to walk the building- no need to stand in line! But come for the community and spirit.

Do you have a ParentVUE account? This lets you see your child’s grades, attendance and schedule. If you have an account and forgot your password, visit this link and say forgot password. If you have never activated your account, please contact the main office to request your key/access or email Karyn Niles at keniles@fcps.edu.
Virginia’s tax-free weekend is almost here, so that means back-to-school shopping time!
August 2-4, 2019. The 3-day sales tax holiday starts the first Friday in August at 12:01 am and ends the following Sunday at 11:59 pm.
During that time, shoppers “can buy qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star™ and WaterSense™ products without paying sales tax."

Thank you to the Food For Neighbors program, the Sikh Temple of Sterling and Holy Cross Lutheran Church who helped coordinate and donate to the HMS Summer Food Pantry. And thank you to the many many community members who saw the need linked in our communication and donated directly or through Amazon. We are now well stocked with food and gratitude!
Thank you to Pinot’s Palette in Herndon for supporting our school counselors in our end of year retreat and planning which ended off sight at Pinot’s Palette. We now all have art for our offices that highlights our team and also our individual uniqueness.
The Herndon Fraternal Order of Police donated $500.00 to Herndon Middle School this summer. The donation will be used to support the HMS Positivity Project. Students are recognized for demonstrating good character and we will use the donated funds to support this program.
