June 13- Early Release Reminder

early

Fairview will dismiss at 12:55 today.

To Our Fairview Community,

My first four and a half months at Fairview have been remarkable! It has been an honor to visit classrooms, collaborate with teachers, meet families, and to attend welcoming PTA events.  Our students are learning, growing, and thriving; and, it’s so gratifying to be part of it all.

A common theme in my conversations during this time has been how much teachers and families love being a part of the Fairview family. I want to thank you for embracing me as a member of this accepting, caring community.

Monday morning, I witnessed a beautiful Fairview tradition, Sixth Grade Promotion. We honored the perseverance, passion, and personal accomplishments of our Class of 2019. We are confident that these Falcons will continue to soar high.

As this week concludes, I want to thank each of you for sharing your commitment to our school community and our mission to ensure that all students meet their potential and discover their passion. Our continued partnership is vital to the continued success of our students, our school, and our community. As we say a brief farewell, I look forward to the new school year with great excitement.

Sincerely,

Sara Van Aalst

Principal

Summer Reading Challenge

During your summer travels, enjoy reading some amazing books! Try and complete as many BINGOs as you can!

When you return in August, bring back either your BINGO board or the Fairfax County Public Library log to receive recognition of your achievements as a reader.

Have a great summer break! Happy reading!

Health Room Update

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than 1:10pm on June 13, 2019 as there is a 3 hour early dismissal for the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded.  It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.  Medication cannot be sent home with your student.  However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.

If your child will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, your existing long-term medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program.  Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

Your cooperation will ensure that we can safely give your student his or her medication.  If you have any questions, please contact your school health room aide, at 703-503-3710, or your school public health nurse, Romina Black, RN, PHN, at  703-388-1345.
