7TH GRADE TEAM ACTIVITIES

In celebration of a great school year, the Longfellow Middle School seventh grade team leaders are planning another exciting closing activity for our students on the last full day of school, Wednesday, June 12th.  We are asking for small donations to our team raffles.  Some suggestions for raffle prizes include the following:

• $5 gift cards to Zinga, ITunes, Chipotle, Santini’s, Robeks, 7-11, Listrani’s, Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Amazon, or any local business (no checks please)
• Small plastic candy jar
• New stuffed animal
• Set of writing pens or thin markers
• Frisbee or summer fun toy
• $5 donation to contribute toward raffle prizes
• Other appropriate raffle prize for a 7th grade student

If you can donate to our raffle, please deliver or send the prizes into school with your child anytime between now and June 7th.  The following history teachers for each team are collecting these prizes:  Ms. Bafaro for the Explorers, Ms. Haley for Polaris, Mr. Kellams-Berger for Hesperus, Ms. Bunch Lyons for Guardians, and Ms. Smith for Red Foxes.  The more prizes that we can collect, the more that we can distribute to the children during the raffle for each team.

Students are asked to wear the following color tee shirts for team identification on June 12th:  Explorers - navy blue, Polaris - white, Hesperus - green, Guardians - light blue, and Red Foxes -  red.
Thank you so much for your support.

LOCKER CLEAN OUT - PLEASE REUSE OR RECYCLE YOUR LOCKER SHELVES

Please send a trash bag to school with your child for locker clean out. 7th graders will clean out their lockers on June 10th and 8th graders on June 11th. They will bring everything home and we ask that you try to recycle or reuse as much as possible at home to lessen the environmental impact.
Please remind your 7th graders to bring their locker shelves home to use next year. If one of their locker pieces is broken, they will be able to ask for a replacement at Open House next year.
8th grade students can either save their organizer for a sibling or put it against the hallway walls to donate it to the PTA. We will take entire locker shelf assemblies OR just separate pieces; whatever they have to give to us. If one of their pieces is broken or missing, we will take the rest of the pieces. We will take locker shelves that have already been decorated with duct tape or marker or paint or anything.  Thank you.

AFTER SCHOOL PARENT SURVEY

Longfellow parents, below is a link for a quick survey about the Middle School After-School Program. The survey should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to complete. The survey is an important component of the after-school program evaluation and is critical for future funding. The more responses we receive, the more valuable and reliable the data. The responses not only allow us to assess the impact of the after-school program, but they help drive program improvement and program quality.  This survey has been approved by the FCPS Internal Survey Review Committee.  Seal  Approval  Number 19225.
Over 95% of our students participated in the after-school program this school year, with over 22,000 occurrences of students staying after-school.  Thank you for your continued support of the Middle School After-School Program! Please complete survey by the last day of school, June 14th.
