Volunteer and Donation Needs for 8th Grade Semi-Formal

The Luther Jackson Middle School SCA is busy planning the 8th Grade Party.  They are planning a fun-filled dance celebration to be held on Friday, June 7 from 6:30 – 9:00 pm in the school gym. All 8th grade students are invited to attend this “Dancing With the Stars” Hollywood and celebrity-themed social event. In order to keep the cost of the event low for students, the SCA has reached out to the PTA for the following:

1) Donations.  Any money received will be used to help offset the cost of pizza, party rentals (snow cone machine, etc.), DJ, and decorations.  Cash or checks (made payable to “LJMS” with “SCA Dance” in the memo line) can be delivered to Mrs. Maggee Albertson in the office by Monday June 3rd.

2) Volunteers.  Many volunteers are needed to sell tickets, setup and decorate, and chaperone the party,  If you can donate some time, please sign-up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0845aaae23a1fe3-8thgrade1

  3) Snacks, candy, drinks, paper products, and Wal-mart gift cards to help purchase any items still missing.  If you can donate an item, please sign-up here:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0845aaae23a1fe3-8thgrade

4) Other ways to get involved.  If you would like to help the SCA plan for or know of anyone who would like to help with creating decorations for the dance, please let us know!  In addition, if you know of anyone who has life-size cardboard cutouts of celebrities (such as characters from Harry Potter, the Avengers, etc.) please ask if they would be interested in letting us borrow them for the dance. We’re hoping to provide students with multiple opportunities to take photos so they can remember this night!

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please email Holly Dubbeling at ptaljms@gmail.com
