Dear Stenwood Students, Parents, and Staff,

As we come to the close of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank everyone again for the nine years of wonderful memories.  Since announcing my retirement, so many of you have taken the opportunity to express your appreciation to me, and that means so much to me, so thank you.  Most of you know that I am a big fan of music—all types of music.  I love the lyrics (cited below) to the song entitled My Wish, by Rascal Flats as they best express my sentiments for those I love.  To my Stenwood Family, my wish for you…

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you wanna go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile.
But more than anything, more than anything…

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but you never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you live,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And always give more than you take.
But more than anything, yeah, more than anything…

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to….

It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to a few staff members—we wish them well as they move to other opportunities and new adventures.  A big congratulations to Connie Burgess who is retiring after many devoted years of service to Stenwood as a special education teacher.  Sarah Rearick, kindergarten instructional assistant, is also retiring after having served Stenwood for many years.  Also, join me in congratulating Quincy Gildea who is moving back home to Pennsylvania where she will be teaching and furthering her education. We also wish Caroline Spinelli, our advanced academic resource teacher, all the best as she joins her husband who has just retired.  We wish Stephanie Van Voorst, fourth grade teacher, all the best, as her husband’s job is taking them to Idaho.  We say goodbye to two instructional assistants, Desiree Coz and Deema Abu-Baker, who were on one-year only contracts to help us for this school year, we wish them all the best.  And lastly, we say goodbye to Geneva Schalk, our public health attendant, as she will be serving as a nanny next year.

Have a wonderful summer, and I leave you in the great care and leadership of Principal Riley!  All the very best to you.

Sincerely,
Principal Dammeyer

Summer Office Hours - Starting June 17th

8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Summer will be here before we know it and we want all Stingers to keep reading.  All Stenwood students are encouraged to participate in Stenwood’s Summer Reading Bingo, Stingers are Readers.  Similar to a Bingo game, students are encouraged to spend the summer reading using the Stingers are Readers activity card as a guide.  All students who successfully complete a row, column or the diagonal and return the raffle ticket will receive a Stingers are Readers prize and be entered into the Grade Level Prize Drawings in September.  All students will receive the Stingers are Readers activity card with the final progress report.  Keep the activity card handy to track reading all summer!
