 Second grade students explored the ecosystem of a pond on their field trip to Hidden Pond last week.

We would like to share with you some news about staff transitions. We will miss the following valued members of our WFES community as they change life paths.
• Kelly Starinchak is heading back to a Title I school, where her heart lies. She’ll be joining the staff at Rose Hill ES.
• Iza Thomas has become a business woman and is happily diving right in as a business partner at artXplorations, LLC.
• Natalie Rocheh, after staying home after the birth of her child, will be working closer to home.
• Katy Blackburn is also joining the business world by focusing on the OrangeTheory she and her family opened, as well as enjoying extra mom time.
• Dominique Barnett will be working closer to home next year.
• Kristen Mihalick is taking a year off to welcome her second child, who is arriving this summer.
• Maimouna Toure is transitioning back to McLean HS as an instructional assistant, which will ease her daily commute.
• Lani Richards is going to be reducing her work schedule to help take care of her grandchild.
• Kaitlin Paglione secured a full time art position for next year at another FCPS school.
• Katie Stribling will hopefully be gracing our halls frequently as a super sub.
We wish the above staff members the best of luck.
Yesterday we had former Wakefield Forest ES students who are graduating from Woodson HS visit and walk the hallways. We’re so proud of all of our former students and the many new journeys they are beginning.

End of Year Medication Disposal Guidelines
Per FCPS Regulation 2102, First Aid, Emergency Treatment, and Administration of Medication for Students, all medication stored in the school health room must be picked up by a parent or guardian no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school, Thursday, June 13, 2019. Our School Health Aide has sent home letters to parents and guardians with instructions for end-of-year medicine disposal.
WFES Yearbook Information
We would like to let families know how yearbook distribution and payment will work this year. All WFES students will receive a yearbook along with pricing information. If you would like to keep the yearbook, please submit payment. If you do not want to keep the yearbook, please have your student return it to his or her teacher.
WFES Summer Hours
Beginning the week of June 17, the Wakefield Forest office summer hours will be 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and by appointment.

PRECISIONETTE CAR WASH!
Come and support the Woodson Dance Team on Saturday, June 9 from 8:30am-1:30pm by getting your car washed. We will be in front of the ROCK near the gym at Woodson High School. $10 gets you a clean car and allows you to support our 2019-2020 club team with our expenses the coming year.
