A Note From Principal Eck


 

Dear Justice Families,

    As we approach the end of the school year, please be sure that your student has completed all of his/her assignments. Contact your student's teacher(s) with any questions or concerns. Also, please remind your student to bring his/her school issued laptop to school. We are now in the process of collecting all school issued devices.

     Dismissal procedures are somewhat different in the next two weeks for students. The week of June 3rd is the last week of school for seniors. Below is a snapshot of next week's senior exams and graduation activities. For the underclassmen, the week of June 3rd is business as usual and dismissal will be  at the regular time of 2:55 PM on Monday through Thursday. However, Friday, June 7th, is an early release day and all students will be dismissed at 11:00 AM.

     The week of June 10th - 12th, dismissal will be at Noon for underclassmen. On June 13th, students will be dismissed at 10:15. Please see the note below regarding underclassmen final exams.

Justice June 3 week

Underclassmen Final Exams

Final Exams for underclassmen begin on Friday, June 7th with the 2nd period exam. Students will be released at 11:00 on Friday so that staff can get to Eagle Bank Arena for the Class of 2019 graduation ceremony that afternoon. Final exams continue the following week and students are released at 12:00 pm Monday, June 10th through Wednesday, June 12th. Exams that week are scheduled as follows: periods 1 & 3 (Monday), periods 4 & 6 (Tuesday), and periods 5 & 7 (Wednesday). The schedule for the last day of school, Thursday, June 13th will be a two hour day with dismissal at 10:10 am. Students will cycle through all seven classes on this day.

 


Raffles for Reserved Parking at Convocation AND Reserved Prime Seating at Graduation Close Tonight at Midnight!

The PTSA is holding a raffle for both RESERVED PARKING at convocation at JHS on June 6th and RESERVED PRIME SEATING at graduation at the EagleBank Arena on June 7th.

Parking can be challenging at JHS when a special event is happening. We are here to make your life easier on convocation day! Enter the raffle for reserved parking. Under "special instructions" on the payment page, please include the make, model, and license plate number of the car you will be driving.

We know EagleBank Arena provides a wonderful view for everyone. Wouldn’t it be great to have RESERVED PRIME SEATING (for six) to see YOUR graduate?

All-Night Graduation Party Tickets Are Now on Sale!

Tickets Are Available Now for the Class of 2019 All-Night Graduation Party!

What could be better than taking over the Providence RECenter and celebrating graduation all night with your friends? Don't miss the All-Night Grad Party! The All-Night Grad Party is part of a nationwide effort to encourage safe, alcohol- and drug-free celebrations on graduation night.

Registration: Seniors must purchase a ticket in advance; tickets are not available at the door.  The cost is $15 for each senior. Seniors can also pick up a permission form in the main office. Versions are available in English, Spanish, and Arabic.

  • June 6th:  Immediately after Convocation until 11:30am

All-Night Graduation Party (ANGP) Volunteers Needed

This annual event is part of a statewide effort to provide an all-night alcohol- and drug-free party on one of the highest risk evenings of the year. 

This year’s party will have music, a casino, a magician, karaoke, swimming, bumper paddle boats, photo booth, a tattoo artist, games, lots of food, exciting prizes, and more to make graduation a night to remember!

Senior Transcripts

Through the Senior Survey process, seniors indicated which college they will be attending and where Justice HS will send their final transcript. Final transcripts will be sent to colleges the week of June 10th. Seniors will receive an unofficial copy of their transcript along with the diploma at the graduation ceremony.


SIS Grade Reports/Report Cards

FCPS Weekly Progress Reports will not be sent to parents Monday, June 10 through the remainder of this school year. Additionally, the Grade Book and Report Card modules in ParentVUE and StudentVUE will be closed Friday, June 21 at 4:00 p.m. Report cards will be sent the week of June 17th.


She Rocks The Hill

The second annual She Rocks The Hill for teenage girls and the adults in their lives will be held on July 16, 2019 in Washington, DC. The program Inspires teenage girls to fearlessly use their own voices. Girls will meet members of congress and engage with their staff. Interested? Go to  sheRocksTheWorld.org to register. Seating is limited and will fill up quickly. The program is free of cost.


Course Verification Letter & Intention Form

Parents of underclassmen will be receiving a mailing which includes important information about your child’s selected courses for the 2019-2020 school year as well as the Student Intention for the Next School Year form. Only complete this form if your child will not attend Justice HS for the 2019-2020 school year. Completed forms should be returned to Student Services by Friday, June 7, 2019. All student course requests can be accessed through the SIS Parent Account. Please review these selected courses carefully with your child and should you find any errors, by Friday, June 7, 2019 please contact your child’s counselor by email or a signed and dated note explaining the error and how it should be corrected.


Planet Fitness - Students Work Out for Free

From May 15 - September 1, teens ages 15-18 work out at Planet Fitness for free! Visit any Planet Fitness location in the US and Canada. Teens under 18 must bring a parent/guardian to sign up. Once the parent/guardian waiver is signed for teens under 18, teens can workout alone. Students who are already 18 do not need a parent or guardian to be present during the sign-up process.


Going to NOVA next year? Need Help Completing the FAFSA? College Access Fairfax Can Help

Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an important step prior to enrolling and signing up for classes at NOVA.  Students who are U.S. Citizens or eligible non-citizens may complete the application with qualifying students potentially receiving up to over $6,000 in Pell Grant funding.   College Access Fairfax is an FCPS partner who can help you to complete your application.  Register at  www.collegeaccessfairfax.org for a one-hour slot to meet with a trained counselor to help you  complete your FAFSA June 18-20.


Last Day of School Bell Schedule

The schedule for the last day of school for high schools will be a 2 hour day. Information for the last day of school schedule has been updated on the standard school year calendar posted online – (https://www.fcps.edu/calendars/2018-19-standard-school-year-calendar). 


Important Dates

June 5 - Last day for late buses

June 7 - Graduation @2PM - Eagle Bank Arena: All students will be dismissed at 11:00 AM

June 10-12 - Students dismissed at Noon.

June 13 - Last Day of School - 2 hour school day

September 19 - Back to School Night
