Student Services News

SENIORS……Class of 2019 Convocation Ceremony June 5th 9:00-11:00 am Springbank Auditorium. Please plan to arrive by 8:30 am to prepare for line up and procession. You are required to wear your graduation gown only NO cap for ceremony. Convocation is our Senior Honors and Department Awards ceremony where seniors are recognized for their academic accomplishments and scholarship(s) received. Seniors scheduled to be recognized include scholarship recipients, department award recipients and honor graduates. Honor graduates will receive an “Honor Medal” to wear graduation day June 6. 

PARENTS AND FAMILIES ARE INVITED TO ATTEND!

PTSA Update

PTSA Meeting - June 6, Monday 6:30 pm in the library. Please plan to attend this meeting so we can thank all of our wonderful volunteers (treats served!!)

Volunteer Opportunities:

-Food Donations For Students During The Math SOL

The West Potomac Math Department is collecting snack food for the students to eat during their Standards of Learning (SOL) Math testing next week. Donations can be dropped off at the Front Office NLT May 28th (before school). Please leave a note "Math Department Attn:  Lyndsey Reinheimer". Any/all contributions are appreciated. Thank you for your generous assistance!  Sign up here.

-Class of 2019 Baccalaureate

Please help our senior parents and students celebrate Baccalaureate Sunday, June 2 at 2:00 pm. The PTSA provides food for the reception. The event will be at Aldersgate Church, 1301 Collingwood Rd, Alexandria 22308. Sign up here.

Design and Construction Renovation Committee Update

On Wednesday, May 22, School Board Members Karen Corbett-Sanders and Tammy Derenak Kaufax provided an update on the plan to expand West Potomac's capacity to 3000 students. Plans will be presented in the Fall of 2019 to the community. Construction will begin on February 2021 and end by Fall 2022. FCPS will expand the cafeteria and add 28 classrooms, 6 science labs, and more parking. All trailers will be removed. NOTE: We need your help to get FCPS to connect the three buildings (Gunston, Quander, and Springbank) to increase student safety and security.

Class of 2019 Graduation Count down!

Graduation and the Senior Party are in less than 2 weeks!

This is a GREAT celebration planned for our 2019 Graduates.  

Seniors must pre-register so we can plan enough FUN, FOOD and PRIZES.

FUN? Yes!  Six casino tables, 85 foot obstacle course, bumper cars, mechanical bull, DC DJ, a conversation pit, unlimited photo booth, games, a professional hypnotist show - plus more!

FOOD?  Yes!  And beverages - from iced coffee to donuts, sandwiches to sushi  - plus more food in between!

SAT/ACT Test Prep-Upcoming Mocks, Classes and Events

Summer test prep classes and mocks are open for enrollment. Register here. Summer mocks and classes start July 27 and target prep for the August/September official tests. 

If your student will be entering grade 11 and has completed Algebra 2, consider getting test prep done before the 2019-20 school year gets into full swing! Spring of junior year is crazy enough. Prep and test early if you have the math needed (Algebra 2).
