AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS END THURSDAY, MAY 30th
The last day for late buses this year is Thursday, May 30th, so all after school activities will end that day. Any students needing to make up work or get extra help should make an appointment with a specific teacher, and plan to get picked up by a parent when they are finished working with that teacher. We won't have any staff here to supervise students outside of those individual appointments.
8th GRADE SEMI-FORMAL... HELP NEEDED!
As we get ready to wind down the school year, it is time to celebrate our 8th graders. Their semi-formal dance is on Friday, June 7th. In order to make the dance as memorable as possible, but also as affordable as possible, we are working with the PTA to collect donations for food and paper products.

TJ PREP CAMP
Dates: Session 1-- July 15-19 Session 2-- July 22-26
Times: 8:00am-3:00pm
Location: Luther Jackson MS
Eligibility: must have completed or be enrolled in Algebra I or above and be a rising 8th grade student.
Cost: $300 (checks and cash accepted; make payable to Luther Jackson PTA)

TJ Prep Camp will focus on test-related mathematical and verbal reasoning, essay writing and study strategies. Students will practice skills through group work, interactive instruction, and participation in web casts. There will be 20 hours of mathematical preparation and 20 hours of verbal reasoning, essay writing and study strategies preparation. Breakfast, lunch, and transportation are provided.
SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM
Dates: July 8-26
Times: 8:00am-3:30pm
Location: Luther Jackson MS
Eligibility: any rising 7th, 8th or 9th grader who attended LJ this year (2018-19), or will attend LJ next year (2019-20)
Cost: Tuition Free ($20 supply fee for specific afternoon electives)
NEW this summer… fight off the summer academic “slide” with this engaging new program that gives middle school students a chance to review and/or enrich the math and English skills they learned during the school year and also try a fun new enrichment activity in the afternoon. Rising 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will work with current Jackson MS teachers on academics in the morning, and then choose from a selection of week-long afternoon electives like: Algebra Boot Camp, Lego STEM Lab, Master Chef Cooking, Multicultural Art, Computer Science/Coding, CORE Tennis, Creative Writing, or Team Sports. JAGUAR JUMPSTART
Dates: July 30-Aug 1
Times: 8:00am-2:30pm
Location: Falls Church HS
Eligibility: rising 9th Graders who will attend FCHS next year
Cost: $10
Are you going to Falls Church High School next year?! This is your opportunity to get a jump-start on what it means to go to high school. Come and get to know the school building, teachers and hang out with other students who will also be joining the jaguar community this August. There is lots of fun to be had and great opportunities to get ahead of the game and feel prepared for your first few days of high school.
