  • If a student has lost his/her charger, they need to bring $38 to the front office to purchase a new charger.
  • If the student computer needs to be fixed, please bring it to the Help Desk as soon as possible to ensure it gets returned in time for SOL testing.

Standards of Learning Test Schedules for Students Observing Ramadan

This year, the main Standards of Learning (SOL) testing window has significant overlaps with Ramadan, the Muslim holy month marked by daily fasting. The SOL testing window begins for high schools on Monday, April 29, and for elementary and middle schools on Monday, May 6. All schools must complete SOL make-up tests and retakes by Friday, June 7. Ramadan begins the evening of Sunday, May 5, and ends with Eid-al-Fitr on Wednesday, June 5.

FCPS welcomes and encourages engagement with parents and guardians of students affected by this overlap. School staff will work with parents and guardians to make schedule adjustments or determine how best to address students’ needs. For example, it may be possible to schedule testing early in the day when energy levels are likely to be highest.

If you have a child in an SOL grade-level who will be fasting to observe Ramadan this year, contact Lea Fadden, School Test Coordinator, at Lea.Fadden@fcps.edu to take advantage of possible scheduling options.

END OF YEAR CELEBRATIONS

With the end of the year approaching, we are asking parents to volunteer at one of our parties.  We also want to remind parents that in an effort to be eco-friendly, we are asking ALL 7th and 8th graders to bring a reusable bottle filled with water on June 12th.  We will be able to refill bottles as needed, but prefer to start out with a full bottle.  All of the kids that bring a full reusable water bottle will be given a treat at the beginning of the party!  To volunteer, please see the sign-ups below:

PTA-NEXT YEAR

PTA can't exist without YOU! We have several board positions that need to be filled for next year. Most importantly - President and Treasurer. Holding a position on the PTA board is seriously THE BEST way to know what is going on in middle school!! You don't need to be a veteran PTA volunteer to be on the board......you just need to have a desire to help our school, our staff, and our children!  All parents of rising 8th graders, please consider stepping up! And, EVERYONE, please share our need with parents of rising FMS 7th graders.

Please email us at membership@franklinmiddleschoolpta.org with any questions.

We thank you for your willingness to get involved!
