The Week in Review

Good afternoon Frost Community,

We had a fantastic ending as we closed out Teacher Appreciation Week with a luncheon sponsored by the PTA!  Thanks again for all of your support and words of encouragement.  The faculty and staff felt appreciated thanks to all of you!

Our arts program was on full display last week as well.  Over 70 students had their artwork displayed at the Creating Connections in Clay art show and approximately half of the student body represented Frost MS well at the annual spring trip to Wolf Trap and Kings Dominion!

Come and join us Friday night at Woodson HS for the spring band concert!

Have a great week!

Anthony

Rising 9th Grade Parents - Call For 2019-20 Woodson Career Center Volunteers – Many or our W.T. Woodson Career Center (CC) Parent Volunteers are graduating this year.  CC volunteers have a unique opportunity to learn about the post-secondary research and application process during their volunteer shifts.  Parents of rising 9th and 10th grade students especially benefit because they will feel more comfortable when it is time for their students to embark on post-secondary research.  To provide consistency, volunteers are asked to commit to a shift for an entire academic year.  Interested parents can sign up at https://tinyurl.com/Vol4WTW.  Register by or before Thursday, 6 June for best consideration.

#ONE Frost in Action

This segment is aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. I want to showcase what ONE Frost means to us!  At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a monthly basis, departments and/or faculty members will nominate students. I will meet with all of the students who are recognized to congratulate them on their kindness, hard work, and willingness to accept others into their circle.

Sam Lingenfelter - Sam demonstrates mindfulness in the classroom and understands that his actions and words impact others. He consistently chooses to make a positive impact on his peers. Being mindful of others has helped Sam to build and maintain strong peer relationships. Sam's friends and classmates know they can count on him. - Ms. Rubio

Thalia Sevilla - Thalia demonstrates the value of OtherPeopleMatter on a daily basis with her humor and her kind, caring attitude towards her peers. She ensures that everyone in the class has someone to work with and that everyone feels included. More importantly, Thalia manages to include her peers in a way that makes them feel that they are valued instead of pitied. - Ms. Finley

Iman Afzaly - Iman is quick to offer a friendly smile and greeting to her fellow students, as well as to Frost staff. She is frequently heard extending compliments to others. - Ms. Alexander

Katherine Ramos - Other people definitely matter to Katherine. This is evident when she speaks to her classmates in a soft and understanding tone, when she waits for her friends, so they won't have to walk alone, and when she includes others in peer groups. Her kindness through both words and actions is contagious. - Ms. Pflugrath

Oscar Persky - Oscar often uses his words to encourage and support others in our class. Even when someone seems discouraged and frustrated, Oscar tries to help that student see the brighter side and engage more positively in the lesson. - Ms. Hansen

Fatma Zamrawi - Fatma is always mindful that what she does and says might impact others in class, even her teacher. She is a supportive and caring member of our classroom community in class and during Falcon Focus. I can always count on Fatma to help anyone in need. - Ms. Champagne
