We are looking forward to the Flip Flop Hop this Friday evening from 6-8. Please plan on joining us this evening as the parent community will be recognizing Mrs. Dammeyer for her years of service to Stenwood Elementary and Fairfax County Public Schools. Come on out to dance with your children and extend best wishes to Mrs. Dammeyer for her upcoming retirement!
Thank you to our PTA President. Mrs. Peksens, and Executive Board who have served tirelessly over the past three years! We so appreciate Mrs. Peksens and the tremendous amount of time and dedication she devoted to our school. Thanks also to our entire Stenwood parent community for making our Staff Appreciation Week so special.
Interested in hearing about the widening of I-66 as it pertains to Stenwood Elementary? Please join us on the evening of May 28th from 6:00-7:00 for a meeting with VDOT officials and representatives from FCPS’ Office of Design and Construction. The purpose of this meeting is to hear information and address questions specific to Stenwood Elementary (not the entire scope of the project).

Here are our SOL dates for students in 3rd – 6th grade. We ask that parents please avoid scheduling vacations and appointments on the dates your child has an SOL.
4th Grade Math – Thursday, May 16
6th Grade Math – Friday, May 17
4th Grade VA Studies – Tuesday, May 21
5th Grade Science – Wednesday, May 22

All Rising 6th graders:
Virginia Law requires that all students entering sixth grade receive a booster dose of the Tdap vaccine prior to the beginning of school. The Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus (lockjaw), diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) and is usually given around the age of 11, although it can be given as early as seven years of age.
Please send in documentation of the Tdap to the front office staff as soon as possible.
Sixth grade students will not be allowed to begin school in August 2019 without submitting proper documentation

Last day to pick up your lost item from the Cafeteria is on June 13th. We have LOTS of water bottles, lunch bags, jackets, coats, etc. Thank you!

Calling all library books! It’s that time of year again, Mrs. Cole needs to start rounding up library books. All books are due back to the library by May 31st. Students are still able to check out until that date, however, if they have overdue books, they will not be able to check out until the books are returned or paid for. Please check with Mrs. Cole if you are unsure of your child’s library account. Thank you.

Dear Parent/Guardian:
Please don't forget to pick up all medication from our health room before the last day of school, June 13th by 12:00 p.m. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. Please note that any medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. If you have questions, please contact Mary Ann Schall, school health aide at 703-208-7610
