front office

Oak Hill's Fabulous Front Office Staff.

Principal's Message

Thank you to our wonderful office ladies and the work they do to greet and support our students each morning and the numerous jobs they fill each day!  One hour they may find themselves the clinic aid, waiting with a worried child for parent pickup, finding out information for a worried parent on a delayed bus, or answering general questions about our school programs and schedules.  This is in addition to the registrations, financial bookkeeping, custodial work orders, managing the school’s calendar for daily and community use or assisting classroom teachers with substitute coverage.  They are a small team, but a team who works well together even under pressure!  Happy Appreciation Week to our fabulous office team!  Next time you are in the office, please help me to express gratitude to these hard working ladies.

Thank you for the generosity the Oak Hill Community showed in raising over $27,000 for our outdoor classroom!   We received positive feedback about the run from the many parents who were able to come out and cheer on our students. In addition, we received feedback on areas where we could improve and how we might engage in those conversations with the community. Thank you for all feedback as we consider future fundraisers at Oak Hill.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further support your child’s learning and experience at Oak Hill.  My door is always open!

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal

STEAM Night is Tomorrow

Oak Hill PTA will be hosting STEAM Night tomorrow from 6 - 7:30 pm in the Oak Hill Cafeteria and Gym. This is a free family event geared to instill an interest in STEAM. In the cafeteria, you will be able to participate in STEAM related hands-on activities.  In the gym you will be able to see students showcases on some of the awesome project-based learning projects (PBLs) they have created this year.

Food and drinks will be on sale.

We need volunteers for the event. If you interested in volunteering, please send an email to events@oakhillpta.org.  This is a great opportunity to earn service hours for middle and high school students!

Student’s Intention for the Next School Year

We need your help in letting us know if your child will be returning to Oak Hill next year.  This will help us in projecting our total enrollment for the next school year.  Student’s Intention for the Next School Year forms were sent home on March 27, 2019.  If you have returned your form already, thank you.  If you have not completed the form, please complete it (directions are on the back of the form) and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher by April 30, 2019.  If you need another form, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

College Day

 college day

Please mark your calendars!  The Chantilly Pyramid will celebrate our annual College Day this Friday, April 26th!  Staff members will wear clothing from their alma mater and will speak with students about their college experience.  In addition, Chantilly High School seniors will be interviewed on our morning news show and will visit classrooms to talk more about the importance of college and to answer any questions students may have about college.

Your child is invited to wear clothing from a college of his or her choice or wear Oak Hill spirit wear.

The earlier a child knows and believes he or she can go to college, the more likely he or she will attend.  Our pyramid’s goal is to start the college conversation with our students and families.  We encourage you to ask your child or children about this fun event and let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your support!

CP Art

Fabulous art work from Oak Hill students at the Chantilly Pyramid Art Show.

Art News

Some incredibly talented Artist and their work was on display this month at the Chantilly Pyramid Art Show. We are so proud of all our students.  In the weeks to come we will be starting a textile unit where students will experience fabric art, coil basket weaving, and stitching. Typically a favorite of elementary Artists!

Summer Book Exchange

Now is the time to clean out your bookcases as the annual PTA Summer Book Exchange is right around the corner. This is a chance for your child to exchange books that he or she has read and pick up some great summer reading.  Book collection will start in May and the book exchange will be held in early June during school. We are also looking for parent volunteers to help man the tables at the book exchange or help with set-up the night before. To volunteer, please contact Faye Morrison at fayelunn@gmail.com

Spring into Summer

Mark your calendars for Oak Hill Carnival.  The Oak Hill PTA will be hosting the Spring Carnival 2019 on Friday, June 7th from 5:30 - 8:00 pm at Oak Hill ES Fields. There will be several tables/booths, food, prizes and lot more activities for kids.

We are in in the process of forming a volunteer committee to plan/organize the event to make it a fun filled day for our kids! If you are interested in being part of the volunteer committee and enhance/build your event planning skills, please send an email to events@oakhillpta.org.  Thank you to those who have already volunteered. In appreciation of your efforts, volunteers will be getting free tickets to the carnival games.
