Purple Up Day!

April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, with an emphasis on the experience of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas. Wednesday, April 10th is Purple Up! Day. Purple Up! is a day for communities to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Wearing purple is a visible way to show support and thank military youth for their strength and sacrifices. Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported; Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue all thought to combine together as a single color, purple.

Hayfield Student 2 Student (S2S) and Junior Student 2 Student cordially invite all military and civilian students and their families to wear purple, and attend a special afterschool program on Purple Up! Day, Wednesday, April 10th from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM in the Middle School Lecture Hall. Major Pat Walker Locke, US Army, Retired, the first African American woman to graduate from West Point Military Academy, will share her story, and help us recognize all Hayfield military-connected students. Military-connected students in attendance will receive a special certificate to thank them for their service. We encourage you to wear purple, and plan on joining S2S and JS2S for this special day.
