WAKEFIELD FOREST ES Weekly Message

STEAM Fair

Students conducted buoyancy experiments at the WFES STEAM Fair last week.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The STEAM Fair last Thursday night was a huge success. We had more than 650 people in attendance for this great event. Thank you to Melissa Fabrizio for organizing this stellar night for families. We appreciate all the teachers, parents and other volunteers for making this such a wonderful experience.

The All County Chorus performed on Saturday. We’re proud of the eight WFES 6th graders who participated in this musical event. Kudos to Ms. Waggoner and Ms. Richards for their support of our choral students.

Sincerely,
Sharyn Prindle
Principal

Positivity Project:  Humor
Humor is a sense of playfulness and lightness and is a way of looking at and describing the world that brings laughter to people.  A person with the strength of humor is skilled at seeing the funny side of things and identifying and communicating the absurdities of life.  Humor has important health benefits, both mental and physical.  It stretches the mind to look at things from different perspectives, keeping people mentally agile and alert.  Laughing produces positive emotions and reduces stress.

Save the Date – Community Meeting is May 20
On Monday, May 20, 2019 at 6:30 pm, Wakefield Forest ES will host a community meeting in the cafeteria to discuss our current capacity and next steps as we move toward scheduled renovation. At the meeting, we will have representation from Region 5 leadership, facilities management and the School Board available to speak to these topics and to answer your questions. We hope you will engage in this community meeting.

Spring Book Fair is This Week
The WFES Spring Book Fair is happening this week, with evening hours tonight, Tuesday, April 2 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. We are still in need of parents to assist and help pack up during the fair. If you are available to help, please visit the sign up genius at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409084cadaf2ea31-2019.  The book fair will also run online from 3/28 through 4/7.

Reminder about Bus Door in Afternoons
If you need to get your child off a bus at the last minute, please come to the office and do not go directly to the bus door. The office staff will call your child to the office via a walkie-talkie to the staff at the bus door.  Please understand that for safety reasons, WFES personnel supervising the bus door cannot release a student.

We are running out of space in our Lost and Found area in the corner of the WFES cafeteria, and so we will be donating all items unclaimed by April 12.  If you are missing your child’s coat, sweatshirt, lunch box, water bottle, or any other item, we strongly encourage you to come and look in the cafeteria any time between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  Tonight’s evening book fair hours from 6:00 to 8:00 pm would be a perfect time to visit the Lost and Found, as would the G2 Opera performance and the Muffins with Mom events.  Please label your child’s outerwear and lunchbox, even if it is just with a first name and last name initial. We’ll figure it out! a
