Dear Saxon Parents and Guardians,
As spring has finally arrived, the new season finds our students continuing to shine in numerous ways. Our spring sports season has started strong and Saxon Stage is in the height of rehearsals for the spring musical Mama Mia. Here are just a few of the fabulous highlights of life in Saxon Country.
Thanks to all of the parents who attended the PTSA sponsored principal’s book talk which highlighted Reid Wilson’s and Lynn Lyons’s publication Anxious Kids Anxious Parents. The conversation was rich and provided an opportunity to explore what strategies may be implemented by staff and parents to better support the emotional health of our children.
Congratulations to all students who participated in the 64th Annual Fairfax County Regional Science and Engineering Fair this past weekend. Students, teachers and families have worked hard this school year to prepare for this competition. A few of our students may have the opportunity to go on to represent FCPS in the ISEF Intel Science Fair located in Phoenix, AZ in May. Congratulations to Hana Abouelenein, Jennifer Wu, Hyebin Yang, Stavroula Antonis, Paige Graves, Jack Bateman, Jane Smyly, Alison Buckler, Genevieve Middleton and the team of Acia Vetchapinan and Raneem Kamoona for receiving Corporate and Professional Organization awards.
Holocaust Museum Visit
A group of English 10 and World History 10 students recently visited the Holocaust Museum.

SGA Car Show and 3 v 3 Basketball
The Student Government Association sponsored car show and 3 v 3 basketball game was a
huge success last Saturday. Congratulations to student Sohrob Kermanchi, teachers
John Santosuosso, Austin Whitehorne and Jamie Parrott whose team won the event.

West Point Leadership and Ethics Conference
Leadership students Maureen Marron, Alexis Bailin, Matt Flenniken, and Addison Wallace
recently attended the West Point Leadership and Ethics Conference.

100 Cameras Snapshot Dhaka Gallery
The National Art Honor Society and the Photography Club sponsored the 100 Cameras Snapshot
Dhaka Gallery. The event highlighted photographs taken by Bangladeshi children (ages 8-15)
who were taught photography by a group of Langley students who traveled to Bangladesh last
summer to serve as their instructors. Pictured are Ananya Amirthalingam, trip chaperone
(and former LHS teacher) Amanda Archibald, and Sumaiya Haque.

Alcohol Awareness Program
This year’s Alcohol Awareness Program was a HUGE success.
During Wednesday and Thursday of this week, juniors and seniors
learned of the perils associated with distracted driving. I would like
to thank the many FCPD officers, DEA agents, MADD and parent
volunteers who worked to make this event a success.
A shout out to staff member Betsy Shoemaker who arranged this
phenomenal event.

Fondly,
Kimberly Greer
