Woodburn News - March 22, 2019

Dear Woodburn Families,

A full week of school in the books!  This week we enjoyed a visit from poet and author Kalli Dakos.  We also began learning about sound judgement, also known as open-mindedness.  The Positivity Project defines sound judgement as "You like to consider new ideas and try new things.  You examine things from all sides and do not jump to conclusions."  This is a great character trait to discuss at home.

We have two weeks until the end of the third quarter.  Next week we will be sharing more information about our end of quarter spirit week.  We can't wait! Enjoy the weekend.

Sincerely,

Katy and Ramona

Cellist Visit - March 28th

On Thursday, March 28 from 2:30-4:00PM, we will have a surprise visit from renowned cellist Amit Peled and his Peabody Cello Gang.  This group of musicians will be visiting Woodburn and performing for students as a flash mob in several different hallway locations throughout the school!  There will also be a culminating performance in the gym that all upper grade classes and some lower grade classes will be attending.  If you are interested in joining us for the performance in the gym, from 3:10-3:50, please email Mr. Kettler and Mrs. Ragona.  We would like to have a rough estimate of how many parents are attending so we can set up enough chairs in advance.  We hope to have you join us!

Principal Evaluation Parent Feedback

This spring all Woodburn parents will be contacted through email or text message with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This survey is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various issues related to our school.  These issues include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism.

The survey will be collected online between March 13 and March 27.  When you receive an email or text message from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the survey.  Your opinions matter. Thank you for your participation!

Kindergarten Orientation

Our Kindergarten Orientation will be held on April 5th from 2:30-4:00.  More information has been sent home to families about this event. Children who turn 5 before September 30, 2019 may register for Kindergarten and are encouraged to call the main office and setup an appointment with our registrar, Jackie Garcia. We are excited to meet our incoming Wildcats!
