COMMUNITY NEWS

Oak View Elementary Turns 50! Oak View invites all current and former Eagles (or even Squirrels) to join us on Saturday, March 30 between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM! We will host a brief Commemorative Ceremony beginning at 11:30 AM. Connect with classmates, teachers, students and administrators from today and years past. Take a trip down memory lane and see what's changed since you were here.  It will be fun for the whole family -- rides, games, tours, food, silent auction, entertainment -- even a photo booth. We cannot wait to celebrate with you and the Oak View PTA in honor of Oak View's 50th, our Golden Eagle anniversary. Spread the word far and wide and RSVP here!

Woodson Ice Hockey Club! Love hockey? Woodson Ice Hockey Club is looking for new players and hockey enthusiasts. Players of all skill levels are welcomed to join the Woodson Ice Hockey Club and participate on the team. We just finished up a successful season in the Capital Scholastic Hockey League (CSHL). We are putting together a team to compete in the spring high school league at Reston Ice Arena. Rising 8th graders are welcome to join the team for the spring season. There are no tryouts, and the season consists of approximately 10 games and four practices. This is a low-cost, low-key introduction to HS hockey! Parents interested in learning more can contact the Head Coach, Mr. Don Modder, at d_modder@yahoo.com or at 703-489-0184. Learn more about the Club by visiting the Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/WoodsonIceHockeyTeam/

Host a French Exchange Student. Families are needed to host French exchange students, ages 14 to 18 years of age, this summer from July 10 to August 2 for a homestay program. The French teens come to learn about the language and lifestyle of the United States firsthand while living with their host family for three weeks. Support and weekly day excursions are provided by Compass USA for the visiting student and host family members. If you are interested in hosting a student then please contact the Compass USA's local coordinator, Jeannette Bianchi, for more details at jeannetteb812@aol.com or 571-233-4786. Merci!
