Greetings Saxons,

 

A two hour delay is definitely one way to welcome spring! As we begin a new month, our students and staff continue to shine!

 

Recently, Langley Science Olympiad traveled to Cornell University to compete against 47 teams from all over the country. 

Going up against stiff competition, they won awards in the following events:

1st place in “Disease Detectives” – Reva Siva and Rupa Siva (sister power!)

1st place in “Sci Tech Bowl” (basically science trivia) – Dan Ni, Daniel Mousavi, and Belinda Xi

2nd place in “Protein Modeling” – Dan Ni, Anna Krause-Steinrauf, and Emmeline Wang

2nd place in “Sounds of Music” – Aaron Lao and Belinda Xi

3rd place in “Chemistry Lab” – Dan Ni and Daniel Mousavi

A huge shout out to the Saxon It’s Academic team for a tremendous showing during the recent semi-finalist taping. The episode will air on April 20. Be sure to tune-in!!

Congratulations to pole vault state champion Hannah Richardson. A shout out goes to Caroline Keys who placed 4th.

Anna Wong and Anna Stout (pictured with Coach Tara Rosenberg) recently represented Langley at the gymnastics state championship. Way to go!!

Congratulations Will Koeppen, Virginia Swim Champion in the 100 back.

 

Langley had 14 athletes compete in the state swim championship meet.

We had several athletes place in the top 8, which is an amazing accomplishment!

 

Congrats to divers Dylan Reed and Claire Vroom who both finished 7th!

 

Congrats to Will Koeppen for placing 5th in the 50 free.

 

Other top 8 swimmers included Megan Jungers who placed 5th in the 100 fly,

and the 200 free relay team of Alex Montano, John Bradshaw, Robert Luebke,

and Will Koeppen who placed 5th.

Congratulations to Areej Khatri, Zoe Hendricks, Devika Puri, Grace Smith, and Ava Arvand

who qualified for the National Forensics tournament.

Congratulations to  Langley's Model United Nations team who traveled to Norfolk, VA to

compete in Old Dominion University’s Model United Nations competition for high school

students. The Langley Model UN team won BEST TEAM DELEGATION award

(equivalent to FIRST PLACE).  Please congratulate all of the students on a job well done!

The Saxon Band recently played at Carnegie Hall. The Wind Symphony played

Beautifully at the Langley-Cooper Band concert.

Thank you to the English Honor Society for this year’s Poetry Slam! This annual event

provided an opportunity for students and staff to shine in a literary light!

Congratulations to Helena Lu. She is one of only fifty-two FCPS seniors to be selected

as candidates for the 2019 Presidential Scholars program, designed to recognize and

honor some of the country’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors.
