From the Principal's Desk

As we complete the first 5 day week of school in 2019, I hope you are doing well. If you find that winter is dragging on and you need a dose of fun, I encourage you to attend the Purple Tie Bash on Saturday, March 9th. “The Bash” is held every other year and it raises much needed money for our athletic programs via the Chantilly Booster Club. The event is a sort of prom for adults, complete with a reception, silent auction, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and dancing. My wife and I have attended The Bash for years with numerous friends from our neighborhood simply to have a good time. Now that I’m principal of CHS and a parent, I look forward to helping my community school while having fun at the same time. I invite other CHS parents and their friends to do the same. Please see the details below for details and how to buy tickets. As a final incentive, the host of the event, the Marriott at Fair Oaks, is offering heavily discounted rooms for those guests that want to stay the night. If interested, please use the following link: Book your group rate for 2019 Purple Tie Bash. I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Scott

The CHS Hockey Club Team Completes Successful Season:

The CHS Hockey Club—a non VHSL sanctioned sport affiliated with Chantilly High School—completed an improbably successful season this week with a loss to Langley in the NVSHL semi-final game. Chantilly won the NVSHL Norris Division with a record of 9-1 and finished #1 in the NVSHL during the regular season. This was only the second time in the team's history it advanced to the semi-final round. The team had the second fewest goals against and second most goals for the regular season in the entire league of 23 teams. Chantilly players ended the season atop all offensive statistics:

Points - Michael Peak was #1 in the NVSHL with 33; Owen Morgan was #2 with 30

Goals - Owen Morgan led the NVSHL with 20

Assists - Michael Peak led the NVSHL with 19

Goalie, Jono Hillesohn, tied for the most shutouts in the NVSHL with 2. And among goalies who played all of their teams minutes, he had the lowest Goals Against Average (2.00) and the lowest number of total goals against (20).

Recent Student Successes

This is the next installment for the school year of what has become a weekly segment aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a rotating basis, departments will nominate students.  I meet with recognized students each week to congratulate them in person.

  • I am absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity to share how proud I am of Josephine Allamby. She has blown me away over the past three years with her dedication to fitness, athletics and academics. She recently earned 2nd place in the Region in the High Jump and is now going to the State Tournament. Josie will compete for Mary Washington University this fall. Josie, I cannot wait to see what more success you hold in your future. Congratulations. Ms. Pringle
  • I’ve been very impressed by the organization and attention to detail that Jaylyn Gustafson has put into her course selections throughout high school. She has worked hard to successfully complete classes at Chantilly while also completing college level courses. Jaylyn has set herself up for a very bright future and I’m very proud of her! Ms. Megan Sullivan
  • Tommy Pho is so polite and always goes the extra mile to make sure others feel appreciated!! Thanks Tommy for being you! Ms. Becky Clonts
  • Isabelle Sheard shows dedication and determination in all she pursues. Keep up the good work Isabelle! Ms. Rebecca Watrud
  • Katie Ulloa-Campos works incredibly hard and always has a smile on her face. I am so proud of her recent accomplishments and her dedication to her school work. Ms. Alice Robertson
