Did You Know?
 We Need Candy
WSES staff run on Pick-Me-Up candy (and coffee) and our candy supply is low! We would love donations of snack-sided chocolate candy, thank you!!
It is raining cats and dogs for First and Second graders as our First graders learn about pets and Second graders learn about storms and storm preparedness.
Water, water everywhere for grades 5 and 6. Our Fifth graders are preparing an ocean adventure through the ocean zones. Our Sixth graders are learning about rainwater recycling for the imaginary pumpkin patch the Kindergartners have planted.
Kindergartners continue to learn about pumpkins; but now that we can describe them using size, shape and color; we are preparing to tell a shadow story about pumpkins and how they grow through the seasons.
Third graders are working on life cycles. They are making connections to the ancient Inca and their storytelling through jewelry. Our jewelry will tell the story of day/night, water cycle or lunar cycle. The bracelet below tells a story, so have your Third grader tell you a story!

Looking for a Realtor! In preparation for the 6th Grade Colonization PBL, students will take on the role of a colonial real estate agent. To help them get ready, we’re looking for a volunteer, parent or otherwise, that would be willing to speak with the students at some point next week to explain the role of a realtor and the considerations needed to sell property. This can either be done in person or through a pre-recorded video. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please email Rachel Calderin at rmcalderin@fcps.edu
Read Across America The Read Across America Challenge is back until Monday, March 4. We are challenging each Mustang to read at least 30 minutes a night. For every 15 minutes a student reads, they get to color in a state in their packet. Those students who read enough to color in the entire United States map will be entered into the raffle for a prize. There will be 7 grand prizes, one for each grade level. If you have any questions, please email Mr. Rigsby at lsrigsby@fcpsl.edu or Mrs. Carney at cmcarney@fcps.edu. Let’s Read Across America Mustangs!
