RCMS is Seeking Host Families

Front of school

Dear RCMS parents,

We have a group of 28 French students arriving in just over a month and are still desperately seeking host families for 15 boys! The students will only be here 10 days, March 22-April 2. It is a wonderful opportunity for your family to experience another culture and form friendships. It also gives the visiting students a glimpse into the diversity of experience living with a family in the United States – whether that means busy evenings with sports practice and a meal picked up on the way home or a quiet evening and dinner around the table. The students have been studying English and are looking forward to practicing with their host families! If you speak a little French, all the better, but not necessary; many are also learning German or Spanish as a third language! Along the way, there will be struggles to get a thought across and laughter at the attempts, but that’s the beauty of it all!

If you are interested, please go to: https://www.alacartetravel.com/bianchi-french-hosting-2019. You will find the host family application, the group’s itinerary, and FAQ sheet. If, after reading that, you have additional questions, you can contact Madame Rosenthal (idrosenthal@fcps.edu) or René Piard of À la Carte Travel (renepiard@alacartetravel.com) depending on the nature of the question.

All adults in the home over 18 years old must be fingerprinted by FCPS. We are hosting a fingerprinting session this Monday, 2/11, from 2pm-3pm at RCMS – an incentive to sign up as soon as possible!

When the arrival date gets closer, we will hold a host family parent meeting in Madame’s classroom. It will be an opportunity to have all questions answered about the nitty-gritty of hosting.
