News from Dr. Sheers

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is studying how school environments relate to discipline practices in the Division. As part of the study, you will receive a survey from FCPS’ Office of Research and Strategic Improvement (ORSI). The surveys are designed to help FCPS understand your and your child’s thoughts about the school environment and how discipline is approached in their school.

Surveys to parents will be translated into multiple languages and come via eNotify. Participation is voluntary for you and your child, and all responses will be anonymous.

I encourage you to participate in this important survey to help FCPS understand what is working well and where we can improve.

Note from the Reading Teacher

MyON is a wonderful online resource students can access at home. Some teachers use MyON in the classroom and the children enjoy listening to or reading stories during their reading block. They can continue what they are reading in the classroom at home.

There are over 11,000 books on the site ranging from the kindergarten level to middle school and covering all genres.

I hope you and your child can enjoy some reading time together using MyON.

Students can log on at MyON.com and access it using their regular school log on.

Looking for a Realtor!
In preparation for the 6th Grade Colonization PBL, students will take on the role of a colonial real estate agent. To help them get ready, we’re looking for a volunteer, parent or otherwise, that would be willing to speak with the students at some point next week to explain the role of a realtor and the considerations needed to sell property. This can either be done in person or through a pre-recorded video. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please email Rachel Calderin at rmcalderin@fcps.edu
