Greetings Saxons,
Today’s snowfall has provided an unexpected four-day weekend. If your home is like mine, this morning’s school closing announcement was met with cheers of joy emanating from children. I find it amazing how snow has the ability to instill a sense of childlike wonder regardless of the person’s age.
Before we get started with our highlights, I would like to take a moment to address the events from last Friday evening. As you are probably aware, a group of Langley and McLean students were involved in a fight within the community after the basketball game. Please know, in no way does Fairfax County Public Schools or Langley High School condone the behavior which was demonstrated by these students. Each day, it is my aim to foster a culture of good citizenship and kindness within our school and community. What happened Friday night stands in stark contrast to the message of Care, Connect, Celebrate and Commence which undergirds my leadership. I will continue to work with our students to develop a sense of school pride and spirit which is congruent with our school and community values. I would greatly appreciate your support and partnership in this endeavor.
As we begin the second semester of the school year, our students are busy engaging in activities which demonstrate their many passions, skills and talents. Below are highlights of the great things happening within Saxon Country. Our kids are truly a dynamic group of individuals.
