Spirit Days 2019

Oak Hill staff and students dressed up for our Spirit Days.

Bus Loop Parking and Safety

We have seen an increase in the number of vehicles parked illegally in the bus loop.  If you need to access the bus loop, please do not park along the yellow curb before, during, or after school.  This is reserved for buses and emergency personnel.  If a bus is present in the bus loop while you are parked, please remember it is against the law to pass it while it is loading or unloading.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Correction: VDOE Student School Climate Survey Cancelled

On Monday, an email was sent home about a statewide student climate survey for students in grades four, five, and six.  Dr. Brabrand in collaboration and consultation with State Superintendent, Dr. Lane, is granting an exemption of the VDOE Student School Climate Survey. Therefore, the VDOE Student School Climate survey will not be administered in FCPS to students in grades 4-6.

Oak Hill's Energy Star

The United States Environmental Protection Agency awarded Oak Hill their Energy Star Award.  To qualify for this award, our school had to use 35 percent less energy and generate 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than similar building across the nation.  We have proudly displayed our certification decal at our front entrance.

Chinese News

Different grades are learning different things in the second quarter.  Below are some of the highlights.

The 1st graders began to learn colors and clothes. They are learning what they will wear in different kind of weathers and seasons. They will start to use computer to practice the things they’ve learned in class.

The 2nd graders are learning different food items. The students use google classroom to practice and review the things they’ve learned. The students will design their own food plate later.

The 4th grade is learning about Virginia bodies of water and are going to make a travel brochure to attract people visit our State. We are explored the animals living on various waterbodies and various water related activities. We also learned how to make origami stars to celebrate our winter holidays!

The 6th graders are busy preparing solar system lesson plans for the 4th graders; we are exploring all kinds of teaching tools to make learning fun such as kahoot, qiuzizz, quizlet, etc. Some of us made a great solar system Illustration, and some of us will do a skit to talk about all the features of the planets. We can’t wait to teach our lessons to 4th graders.
